Job Description

The Best Connection Employment Group are currently seeking a Class 2 driver to fulfil an ongoing position in Allington, Maidstone.The role itself requires the candidate to deliver chilled, frozen and ambient goods into convenience stores, completing 6-12 drops per day, usually in the same location. e.g. You may travel to Portsmouth, and compete 6 drops in that particular area, and then travel back to the depot to finish.On some occasions, especially throughout peak periods, you may be asked to complete 2 runs, so please be prepared for this.Please be aware that all produce will be on cages, therefore you will have to access the back of the vehicle and assist with unloading.This role WILL at some points involve London. If you are not comfortable with driving in London, then this role may not be suitable for you.Other areas covered include Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Sussex and Kent.Before commencing, you will be required to complete a driving assessment, along with a theory test at the site, this will take around 3 hours, and is unpaid.When you arrive at the assessment, you will be asked to complete a health and safety test, Highway code test and a tacho test.If you pass the theory test, you will be asked to complete a driving assessment.Throughout the driving assessment you will be required to:- Navigate through a slalom- Bay park (reverse)- Manoeuvre around tight turnsProviding you pass both aspects of the assessment, you will then be invited back to complete your induction days, these will be paid to you at the standard rate.The induction usually covers 2 days. On the first day, you will be shown around the site, and taught how to use the clocking in systems etc.The second day usually involves you going out on deliveries with another driver. In a sense, you will be their drivers mate for the day, getting to grips with procedures at the delivery destinations, and essentially to see first hand the role as a whole.Once you and the client are comfortable that you are ready to commence, you will then be given your start date, which is usually the day after the final day of the induction.The clients nature is very much a 7 day operation, therefore you must be flexible in terms of working weekends, as you will be on working a weekly rota, that will ensure that you do not exceed your driving hours.Start Times:Range between 04:00 - 09:00.Please be aware that the shifts can be long, and the transport planners usually plan drivers in for a 12 hour shift.Pay Rates:Sunday-Saturday: £13.08 - £15.25 Per HourYou will receive a minimum of 8 hours pay.The higher pay rate is achieved by possessing your own limited company.To be eligible for this position you must possess:- Category C Licence- Valid CPC- Valid Digi-Card- Strong understanding of driver hours rules- Happy with Weekend workBenefits of working through The Best Connection:- 28 days holiday per year- 24 hour on call service- Open office atmosphere (pop in when you like!)- Weekly pay (every Friday)- Online payslipsKey areas to consider before applying for this position:- Some shifts can be 12-15 hours long- This role can be physically demanding (Cages)- This role will at some stages involve London- Weekends involved (Contact us for more information on this aspect)For more information on this role, or to address any questions you may have, please do not hesitate to apply for the role here, and a consultant will contact you as soon as possible.Additional Benefits & Requirements
