Job Description

Job Title: System AdministratorJob Type: Permanent Salary: £30k-£40kLocation: Macclesfield/HybridWe are looking for an organised, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a System Administrator.Purpose of the Role

  • Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization, including AWS environments
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance. Manage existing ISO security certifications.
Routine tasks for our schemes include
  • Creating CSRs and Installing new SSLs
  • Creating the relevant files and folders for each new domain
  • Setting up AWS SNS for each new domain (Auto-blacklist functionality)
  • Monitoring RDS usage
  • Changing Security group restrictions for IP access to AWS Servers and RDS Servers
  • General server maintenance, updates and error checking (launching new instances if required)
  • Managing AWS SES for credentials and DKIM and DMARC setups
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience
  • System administration and IT certifications in Microsoft preferred
  • Good working knowledge of cloud virtualization using Amazon Web Services
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Knowledge of information security management frameworks, such as ISO/IEC 27001 and NIST (Desirable)
