Job Description

Linux Infrastructure Engineer - Lutterworth - £45,000Reed have the pleasure of working with UK’s No.1 experts in commercial Plant, Powered Access, Tools and Accommodation solutions. Currently looking for an experienced Linux Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing team based in their Lutterworth Head Office.This organisation is heavily investing in new digital solutions for the future and would like you to be a part of that journey moving towards a cloud-based platform. You’ll have the opportunity to work on an in-house bespoke system whilst using more modern Linux platforms such as Red Hat.As the Linux Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible for Unix/Linux Platforms within the group, including, but not limited to the ERP system that hosts the company’s mission critical ERP system. The role covers responsibility for strategy, design, build, installation, testing, tuning, documenting and daily administration of infrastructure.Your responsibilities:

  • Working with the AIX administrator to ensure daily system checks are followed to ensure critical systems are operating as expected. Ensure potential issues are identified early and fixed ASAP to prevent systems degradation or unplanned downtime.
  • Perform daily health checks in conjunction with the AIX administrator for the DR system. Health checks to also include and prove healthy database replication. Check DR synchronisation overnight routines have completed successfully.
  • All change and problem management relating to the UNIX/Linux Platforms. To ensure all changes are correctly raised in ServiceNow and brought to the change board. To ensure incidents and problems raised via Service Now are managed within SLAs.
  • Support all new ERP business requirements relating to the UNIX/Linux System.
  • Ownership of key support contracts with 3rd parties. Maintain and build good relationships with 3rd party support and suppliers.
    • Experience/Skills Required:
  • Knowledge of AIX Systems
  • Advanced UNIX/Linux Administration skills.
  • Advanced UNIX/Linux performance and capacity management.
  • Subject matter expert in areas of responsibility and able to share knowledge with others.
  • SUSE Linux skills.
  • Knowledge in MS Azure would be beneficial
