Job Description

The successful Head of Payroll will lead the payroll function within the Shared Services team, overseeing the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a diverse workforce, of over 20,000 employees, all working within multiple newly acquired businessesin the GroupMerge multiple payrolls into a unified, efficient system, leveraging your expertise in SAP implementation and HR system integration to streamline the entire payroll function.Client DetailsA market leading provider of high quality logistics services for retail companies in the UK and Ireland.   • Reform and lead the payroll function within the Shared Services team, overseeing the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a diverse workforce of over 20,000 employees, all working within multiple newly acquired businesses in the Group
  • Merge multiple payrolls into a unified, efficient system, leveraging your expertise in SAP implementation and HR system integration to streamline the entire payroll function
  • Provide an in depth knowledge to the business and team of all matters relating to payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence and implementing necessary change
  • Demonstrate adaptability and comfort in handling ambiguity, proactively addressing challenges and providing effective solutions
  • Drive the deployment of a robust time and attendance system, optimising workforce management processes and enhancing accuracy
  • Lead, coach and mentor team members, particularly in relation to the end goal of settling the team into the SAP space
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
  • Standardise policies and procedures across all payroll functions, ensuring compliance and efficiency throughout the department
  • Design the organisational structure for the payroll department across three different service centres, ensuring optimal resource allocation and seamless collaboration
ProfileThe successful Head of Payroll will have:
  • Extensive experience in end to end payroll management, with a strong focus on Shared Services operations
  • An in depth knowledge of all matters relating to payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements,
  • Evidence of leading and implementing change in business and systems processes
  • In-depth knowledge of SAP implementation, payroll systems, and the relevant related aspects of the payroll function in relation to an HR system integration project
  • Proven ability to successfully merge multiple payrolls and streamline processes for increased efficiency
  • Exceptional change management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams through organisational transitions
  • A strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for identifying process improvement opportunities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and stakeholders
  • Prior experience in coaching and mentoring team members to achieve individual and organisational goals
  • Demonstrated ability to handle ambiguity and adapt quickly to changing priorities and business needs
