Job Description

Are you an ambitious, forward-thinking individual, with experience in developing electronic assemblies in a regulated environment Would you like to have the opportunity to grow and be able to become the key individual in electronics within the companyI am working with a innovative medical device start-up looking for an electronic engineer to join their thriving company. This medical device company focus on the next generation of innovative endoscopic medical devices.The key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Working within a small team to develop system specifications and designs.
  • Delivering high-quality schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Delivering fast turn around proof-of-concept circuits, when appropriate.
  • Delivering high-quality design documentation according to medical regulations.
  • Contributing to role-specific R&D planning.
  • Developing and performing testing, and other quality assurance tasks.
  • Working with external suppliers for both prototypes and volume quantities.
  • Debugging and fixing issues found from field testing and deployments.
  • Working with management on managing and developing intellectual property.
Essential Requirements
  • Significant experience of digital circuit design and layout within Altium.
  • Experience in implementing high-speed / high-bandwidth digital interfaces; ideally MIPI and PCIe.
  • Familiar with system testing, and the requirements of IEC 60601.
Desirable Skills & Abilities
  • Experience working under ISO 62304 and ISO 13485, and preparing associated documentation (risk management ISO14971, design and development procedures, change control, etc.)
  • Detail-oriented, optimise and miniaturise PCB layouts, in cooperation with mechanical design engineers.
  • Familiar with designs that incorporate FPGAs.
  • Familiar with non-standard PCB construction and assembly techniques.
  • Familiar with EMI testing and reduction techniques.
  • Ability to self-motivate when working independently; prioritise tasks and work effectively to manage and meet deadlines.
  • Experience writing firmware for microcontrollers, and perhaps PC-based test applications.
  • Hold a first or upper second-class degree in a relevant subject such as electronic engineering.
  • A basic knowledge of clinical and/or biomedical engineering.
