Youth MentorSouthwarkASAP StartA large PRU in Southwark is recruiting several mentors for full time, ongoing positions starting ASAP for the remainder of the academic year. Working hours are 8.15am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.The school caters for 90 pupils aged 5-16 years old, with EHCPs for SEMH, however many students have additional needs such as ASD, ADHD and SpLD. As well as a varied curriculum, they also offer a range of therapies and extra-curricular activities.The selected applicants will have previous SEN experience, especially with SEMH and associated needs. As well as supporting students on a 1:1 basis, you will also be required to support whole classes when needed. You may be required to teach students ona 1:1 basis, as directed by the class teacher, so must be confident academically. Many of the students are disengaged, therefore you will need to be resilient and calm, preparing to put in the time required to build relationships with the students you support.The school are open to looking at candidates from a youth work background, who have had some school experience or wish to transitional into an educational setting. A degree would be desirable, but not essential.For candidates who commit, the school can offer excellent rates of pay, as well as a friendly and stable working environment.The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
