Wintel Engineer Description: Our Client require 4x Wintel engineers to work with a payment company on infrastructure support work stream Essential skills required: Good understanding of industry best practice across the Corporate and Wintel technologystack.Excellent understanding of service offering and the ability to articulate at all levels in the organisation.Comprehensive working knowledge of the following Wintel technologies:Microsoft Operating Systems including Windows 2008 Server and Windows 10.Previous administration of Windows 2008/16 server including Active Directory, Group Policy, User profiles and folder redirection Knowledge of backup technologies (NetBackup or similar). Patch management of Wintel systems (SCCM, Shavlik, etc) Good understandingof virtualisation technology in enterprise environment (VMware, Hyper-V, App-V or Xenserver), including using templates, deploying, managing and troubleshooting virtual servers and/or desktops NPVDI/PVDI Vulnerability Remediation Good understanding of IvantiAppsense, Environment Manager and Application Manager IPv4 Networking Technologies - understanding of routing, DHCP, DNS, network security (proxy servers, firewalls) Strong knowledge and hands on with at least 1 of the technologies specified under the Desirablesection Excellent customer focus and ability to build rapport. Ability to work as part of a team. Highly motivated, driven by the achievement of agreed objectives. Ability to organise and execute team objectives and plans. Ability to work unsupervised andmanage assigned workload and priorities. Flexibility to take on new products, services, strategies, ways of working etc. Ability to proactively research alternatives and solutions to problems and take action to resolve. Desirable skills: Knowledge of and hands-onexpertise with one or more of the following will be beneficial: HP blade server hardware (C-class). Citrix technologies (Storefront/Xendesktop/XenApp, etc) Microsoft Exchange 200720102013 Token Based security products (RSA/Nexus TruID) Microsoft SQL server20052008 and 2012 NAS / IP Storage (NFS/iSCSI) Load Balancing Technologies - hardware and/or software (NLB) MS Application Virtualisation (App-V) SAN storage (EMC, HP etc) Security software - antivirus, email encryption, DLP software (Preferably McAfee andSymantec) AppSense Desktop Now Suite (Personalisation, Environment and Application Manager) Working instructions: To be responsible for the support of all Wintel services across Corporate 3rd line and Production 2nd and 3rd line, physical and virtual environmentsin our clients data centres. Any qualifications required: Desirable: Microsoft Certification (MCP, MCITP, MCSE, MCSA, MCTS etc) VMWare Certified Professional Working towards MCITP Citrix Certified Administrator Persistent VDI - Hosted in an ESX container -running XenDesktop on Windows 10 20H2 AppSense PDVI Builds Vulnerability Remediation - working with Qualys to remediate hundreds of issues flagged co-ordinating user, security, vendors to address backlog building PVDI and supporting - approx 10 a month, maybemore look at Build & UAT queue for request for apps working with team on approvals for apps / app packing team etc for persistent and non persistent environment Extra Workload - PVDI Vulnerability Remediation managed by Wintel Support previous agreement wasthat PVDI Users would remediate the vulnerabilities they introduced and Wintel would just patch, majority of PVDI Users dont remediate vulnerabilities or dont know how to. - PVDI User base has grown to 1200 PVDIs and growing, this generates a lot more supportcalls, but the Team has not grown to support the volume of Tickets raised - Project Sierra VLB559 PVDI Access and Tool Refresh - Applications when completed will require x2 fulltime resource to focus on Application Management, and Application Vulnerabilityremediation as will be managed by Wintel and not PVDI Users - Non Persistent VDI Life cycle now managed by Wintel Support, was previously managed by Wintel Delivery this has taken away 2 resources who would tackle tickets in both Wintel Support and Build &UAT queue - Persistent VDI Life cycle now managed by Wintel Support, was previously managed by Wintel Delivery, Gold master build, UAT and defect management. - Managing Support calls from VL Users who have migrated from legacy VL NPVDI to RDS Terminal ServersJob Title: Wintel Engineer Location: Reading, UK Rate/Salary: 350.00 - 350.00 GBP Daily Job Type: ContractTrading as TEKsystems.
