Job Description

In so doing, they seek to make a positive, sustainable contribution to both the UK economy and society.On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Senior Production System Engineer for a 6 month contract based in London.Purpose of the Role:This Application Production Support (APS) team provides business-aligned services to support trading activities and are responsible for provisioning and maintaining high service availability of the Trading Systems and all their associates dependencies whilst ensuring the company meets all its regulatory and compliance.As aSenior Production System Engineeryou will be responsible for:

  • Provide consistent development and production hosting environment with high availability and resilient platforms for key components.
  • Manage Incidents and apply Change controls for production with good execution plans.
  • Pro-actively monitoring, manage and improve availability and performance tuning of the production environments from presentation, application layers to middleware and databases.
  • Pro-actively manage the capacity of production applications.
  • Plan and execute application releases dependencies, pretesting environments and configuration change reviews.
  • Evaluating new toolset to enhance and manage global production platforms consistently.
  • Participate in technical projects as part of the Application Production team, contributing in architecture reviews and designs, obsolescence and migrating systems to new internal clouds, physical or virtual infrastructures management.
  • Provide feedback and propose solutions to management on performance, risks and capacity and design issues for continuous improvements
  • Compliance for IT and Cybersecurity, assist in planning and test of Disaster Recovery exercises
    • What we require from the candidate:
  • Significant experience in a similar senior role, the majority of which should have been ideally gained within a Capital Markets context.
  • Experienced in providing multi-disciplined technical support on OS platforms and middleware components, performance and incident management from an application, databases connectivity and network perspective.
  • System administration - primarily trained in Windows, IIS and Network Protocol and knowledge of Powershell, Active Directory and secure protocols TCP/IP, Kerberos, SSL, HTTPS and Encryptions methods.
  • Application servers / middleware - Good skills knowledge in configuring and supporting of the following: IIS, Load Balancers GTM, Python and Scripting desirable.
  • Networks - High level of understanding of network principals and communication protocols and Encryption methodology knowledge.
  • Troubleshooting - Practical experience of Sys Internals toolsets and packet captures Wireshark
  • Server Monitoring and deployment toolsets - Bladelogic, Altiris and Geneos
  • DevOps - Core knowledge of Ansible, BitBuckets, Artifactory, ElasticSearch and Grok
