Job Description

I am recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Team Leader to be based in South East London.This role is working indirectly for the Metropolitan Police via Reed and requires extensive vetting in the form of a Counter Terrorist Check ( CTC ).Key Responsibilities:• The day-to-day management of approximately 53 staff. Including monitoring and authorising annual leave, performance, sickness, attendance and staff development and PDR.• Provide clear direction through visible, approachable leadership and leading by example.• Manage the transportation of criminal exhibits, from the MPS stations and crimes scenes to the Labs as per sop. Using the relevant software packages in place.• Managing the transportation of Exhibits from Stations to Central Exhibits Store for long term storage or destruction organizing the delivery of the consumables (stationery, Uniform etc) to all MPS sites.• Manage the efficiencies of the van and lorry routes. This would include setting up daily routes and monitor work that may change planned routes.• Management of the distribution fleet comprising of 22 vehicles.• Liaising with stakeholders with regards exhibits, and collections and other general enquiries.• Planning routes for both van and Lorries, ensuring the most effective and efficient routes are achieved, taking into account the protocols around the MPS Environmental footprint.• Manage exhibits and files coming in to ensure the processes for inputting are followed and constantly reviewed for compliance and efficiencies to ensure the audit trail is available. Make best use of the latest technology.• An extensive knowledge of the MPS Property and Exhibits Manual and Transport Services Policy.• Manage crime scene requests effectively to reduce officer abstraction.• Being Omni – competent within the warehouse.• Work with other colleagues within the Criminal Exhibit and Records management Review, Disposal and Retention teams, share best practice and have an understanding of the process in each area to provide Omni competent working practices and resilience.Skills, Knowledge and Experience:• Previous experience in logistics.• Ability to manage and lead staff. Good communication skills, face to face and email.• Excellent IT and communication skills both verbal and written.• Good organisation skills as well as attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a confident manner and solve problems.• Problem solving.• Experience of working in a target driven environment.• Be forward thinking and proactive in assessing and completing your work load.• Be physically capable of manual handing. (Reasonable adjustments will be made)• Be aware and manage the health and safety responsibility for the role.• Knowledge of the Non-Police Firearms SOP, and safe working practises around the storage, movement and disposal.• Understanding of the high risk items and process for these items with regards to retention and disposal. Liaising with 3rd party suppliers• Ability to access relevant databases.• Legislation - Police (Property) Act 1897, Police (Property) Regulations 1997;• European WEEE Directive (Waste electrical and electronic equipment);• Manufacture and Storage Explosives Regulations 2005;• Handling and transportation of fine art, hazardous goods;• Full driving license,• Working knowledge of applicable SAP modules and Fork lift license.
