Job Description

The companyHarmonic has been retained by an exceptionally high growth Fintech scale-up providing an AI powered data & analytics platform to some of the worlds leading financial institutions to analyse credit, bond and loan data. Their AI driven product has landedthem backing from a leading US Venture Capital Fund that has a track record of early investment into some of the biggest tech success stories in history - including Twitter and Slack.Now they are looking for a strategically focused VP Finance to take them through their next phase of growth, professionalise the finance function and execute strategic projects including future fundraising and M&A.They have experienced some incredibly exciting growth over the past few years, more than doubling their ARR last year to over £10m. The forecast is for revenue to more than double again in 2024 so business processes need to be scaled to match.Having already grown headcount to north of 150, they anticipate adding another 50 heads this year across multiple geographies to take the business to over 200 employees globally. Based in the City of London, their HQ is a vibrant office space filled witha diverse group of people. They boast a fun, energetic culture where everyone is an ambitious, high achiever looking to make a real impact.Their recent Series A+ investment round will spearhead international expansion and enable the business to execute on several strategic initiatives planned for the upcoming 12-24 months. There is a requirement for high EQ as well as IQ in this business, sopersonable, characters with strong business partnering skills will do well here.The roleWe are looking for an experienced, commercially focused VP Finance to deliver our clients financial strategy. Experience of fast growth, specifically growing a company from early-stage VC investment through to exit is very relevant here.You will be an experienced finance leader with a proven track record of managing high performance teams, delivering on strategic projects and scaling businesses. There is an ongoing requirement to manage day-to-day operations in a reasonably hands-on way,however there is competent team in place covering BAU finance. You will need to be dynamic and able to dip in and out of the detail, when necessary so an ivory tower perspective will not be well suited.We are open to a range of profiles from practice trained accountants that have progressed into senior commercial roles to people that have had a trajectory through investment banking and private equity (or similar).ResponsibilitiesStrategic:

  • Work very closely with the CEO and VP Operations to deliver strategic projects and provide counsel on important business decisions.
  • Be a key and accountable member of the leadership team and play a role in reporting to the Board.
  • Work with other members of the leadership team to provide insightful financial data and business analytics.
  • Be a core part of any future fundraising or other investor focussed activity.
  • Manage senior stakeholder and investor relationships (including US investors).
  • Oversight of group structuring to organise the business internationally in the most efficient way possible.
Operational:
  • Management and oversight of day-to-day finance, including the Head of Finance, Financial Controller and remote management of the Senior Accountant in the US.
  • Ownership of FP&A including the financial model, detailed forecasting and creation of accurate budgets through business partnering with department heads.
  • Ensure appropriate cash flow forecasting for the businesss operations.
  • Full responsibility for tax filings & registrations to maintain compliance and governance, including payroll taxes, VAT, R&D tax credits and international taxes.
  • Establish, develop and track core OKRs.
  • Build and develop an outward facing finance function where finance is a real partner to all departments and not just a back-office function.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to the finance team.
  • Supporting with negotiating legal & contractual agreements for suppliers, partners and clients.
  • Ensure legal compliance as well as compliance with company policies.
Requirements
  • Either a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), or background in Investment Banking, Private Equity or similar.
  • 5+ years finance leadership experience in high growth start-ups including supporting on major fundraisings and contributing to company strategy.
  • Highly collaborative and strong business partnering skills with the ability to build relationship with colleagues across different departments.
  • Authentically represent the company values.
  • An experienced finance leader with executive presence, strong negotiation skills and business acumen.
  • Ability to be dynamic and operate both as part of a team and autonomously when necessary.
  • Ability to be hands-on in your approach, not shying away from getting down in the detail when necessary.
  • Extremely analytical mindset with a high attention to detail.
Bonus experience
  • Experience working in a recurring revenue tech enabled environment with strong understanding of the associated KPIs and metrics beneficial.
  • Previous experience working with top tier VC and PE funds preferred.
