SummaryWe are now looking for an energetic Volunteer Officer to join our Operations Team in order to help deliver great experiences for both our volunteers and our visitors. Responsible for volunteering across the Ightham Mote and North Kent portfolio, the post holder will focus upon effective management, training and support for current volunteers and for all our Heads of Department in developing wider opportunities going forward, to increase and broaden involvement in and support for, our work.What its like to work hereYou will be a key player within a close hard-working team, which delivers at pace and has high ambitions and vision. Ightham Mote & North Kent portfolio includes Ightham Mote as our flagship and in addition several hidden gems of Kentish history, such as Cobham, Hawkwood & Petts Wood, Oldbury and Old Soar Manor. Covering some 2,500 acres of Kent Countryside, there are 33 staff and 500 volunteers, actively involved across all sites and covering all disciplines. What youll be doingWe are looking to recruit a confident, flexible person with excellent communication and engagement skills, to sustain and develop our volunteering and community outreach offer. You will have hands on experience of managing volunteers and the ability to understand and identify different needs and motivations. Very much a "people person" you will encourage, coach and performance manage, across a diverse range of skills. You will be adept at engaging local groups with a cause you believe in, to become an effective advocate in the local community. As befits a seven day operation, this role will require some weekend, Bank Holiday or evening working as part of team rotas. Who were looking forYoull need to have: Understanding and good practice of volunteer management. Understanding of good practice in community engagement and involvement, as well as broader participation and partnership working. Practical and successful experience of developing and implementing new products and approaches to volunteers. Excellent organisational and planning skills. Ability to coach and support those managing, supervising and working alongside volunteers and community partners.
