Job Description

VP Treasury, Risk and InsurancePearsons Treasury, Risk and Insurance team has established a reputation as a ground-breaking team, winning awards for its social bond debt issuance, in house bank structure and cash forecasting is now seeking a new Deputy to help lead an ambitious changeagenda.The character of the team is reflected in the its values:

What youll be doingThe role involves:
  • Leading key initiatives
  • Writing or supporting on the writing of Audit Committee papers
  • Ensuring compliance with key policies and controls
  • Presenting to senior management and key external stakeholders on treasury, risk and cashflow
  • Providing best practice guidance within Pearson
  • Supporting in developing the team

  • Semi-Annual group risk reporting summarising the risk reporting undertaken by the divisions incorporating short-, medium- and long-term probability and impact assessments
  • Supporting and advising on 6-8 Divisional/Functional risk review papers per year, each providing a summary Red Amber Green status for principal risks and 3-4 deep dive reviews
  • Going concern and viability assessment
  • Annual Treasury deep dive risk review
  • Quarterly Treasury policy compliance reporting
  • Monthly group cash flow forecasting and reporting (feeds into a larger finance prepared board pack)
  • Annual Operating Plan for interest and cash flow and long-range forecast
Key workstreams
  • Renewal of global insurance policies within budget and ensuring market leading wording
  • Liaison with rating agencies (Fitch and Moodys) and monitoring of key headroom metrics
  • Debt refinancing to cover planned maturities or incremental financing to support business investment as required
  • Ensure through continuing tight working capital management that the group achieves its target of operating cashflow of at least 90% of operating profit
  • Rapid centralisation of cash balances to ensure that group borrowings are minimised through the maximum availability of funds
  • Management of the groups net investment hedge program which uses fx collars and forwards to provide protection for the groups key debt ratios against significant fx movements
Future facing initiatives
  • Advise and oversee execution of best-in-class cash management structures
  • Advise on best practice collections practices including direct to consumer methods, working with colleagues in the Process Improvement team and the Information Technology teams
  • Continuous review of Pearson treasury technology tools to improve outcomes and efficiency. Current major initiatives include the development of the Treasury and Risk data lakehouse.
As required by theColorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set,level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $145,000- $165,000.
