About the role:An exciting opportunity has arisen for a UX Engineer to work in the new Data Collection Design team which is partly responsible for helping to transform how the FCA collects data. This is a key role in a team that provides a service to the rest of the FCA byworking with supervisory areas to understand user needs and design high quality data collections. The UX Engineer will work with Transforming Data Collection programme and the Data Acquisition Service to set up and develop this new capability in line with user-centred design principles to ensure the FCA gets the data it needs to regulate effectively atthe lowest cost to industry. What does this job involveThe key responsibilities of the role holder include:* You will work within a newly established team to design and build a library of reusable components. This will support content design, user interface (UI) design, and service design. For example, we expect the UI library will contain Styles, Components, andPatterns with guidance and code examples to allow continuous integration. * You will also be responsible for contributing to the development of the FCA Prototype Kit that utilises the FCA UI component library. * Be responsible for writing clean, accessible code following progressive enhancement approach * Create code that is open by default and easy for others to reuse * Design software which meets needs and creates meaningful interactions and relationships with users * Understand and have experience with fundamental front-end technologies (HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript)Minimum, Essential & Desirable skillsWere a signatory to the Governments Disability Confident scheme. Exceptions may apply if due to the volume of applications we are not able to interview all eligible candidates who qualify under the schemeMinimum* Extensive experience of UI/UX Development or Design Experience underpinned by solid understanding of user-centered design and interaction design principles.* Experience of taking responsibility for the delivery of designs and related artefacts, complying with requirements, design standards and delivery constraints.Essential* Experience creating and iterating dynamic HTML/CSS prototypes to test and communicate ideas. Youll know how to version and host these prototypes and should consider different screen sizes* Experience of assessing existing information architecture/layout and flows, identifying areas for improvement, designing to-be information architectures, layouts and flows.* Experience of designing in large organisations. Youll know how to design accessible, secure, responsive user interfaces* Programming and build - You can collaborate with others when necessary to review specifications. You can use the agreed specifications to build, test and document user interfaces of high complexity, using the right standards and tools.* Experience of talking about and advocating for user-centred design in a way that other people understand * Experience collaborating with user researchers and BAs and can translate the needs of internal and external users into high fidelity prototypes.* Experience of creating and using taxonomies and design patterns* Knowledge of how to remove design complexity from products and services * Experience with Git* Prototyping with Figma, Adobe XD or similar industry-recognised prototype softwareDesirable* Experience working with Financial Services Regulatory Reporting from an Industry or Regulator perspective* Experience of working with the different products groups within an organisation* You can demonstrate experience working in Agile, and an awareness of Agile tools and how to use them.* Experience with GDS Design System and Prototyping Kit* Experience with Angular and principles of SPAs* Business know-how: Understanding of business metrics and the ability to translate FCA goals and objectives into digital experiences.* Ability to innovate in the selection and application of design practice.If you are someone who is seeking that next challenge, and you have the experience and skills required, then please send me your CV. /
