Job Description

About usSeeking a graduate/junior insurance candidate for an excellent entry level role within a global reinsurance underwriting team. This role reports into an Underwriter with an analytical/actuarial background, the successful candidate will benefit from thisapproach to assessing risk.The roleThis Global Reinsurance team provides casualty and specialty reinsurance products, through underwriting operations based in the US, Bermuda and the UK.This role is based in the specialty team. The specialty team in London underwrites a growing portfolio of specialty treaty reinsurance including marine, energy, terrorism and aviation. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, this position is responsiblefor supporting the day-to-day underwriting activities of the department.Key accountabilities

  • Accurate and timely input of data into relevant underwriting systems with a view to developing the ability to interpret and present findings where required
  • Timely filing of documentation
  • Assist with portfolio management activities to maintain compliance with underwriting objectives and corporate enterprise risk management guidelines
  • Work closely with underwriters to develop knowledge of the industry and technical underwriting approach
  • Establish and maintain superior business and service oriented partnerships with the insurers brokers
Skills & experienceThe successful candidate will:
  • Be educated to a minimum of A-level standard, or equivalent, and must have GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent, at Grade C or above
  • Have passed or be prepared to complete the Lloyds Introductory Test or Award in London Market Insurance shortly after employment. Completion of the CII Advanced Diploma in Insurance is encouraged.
  • Demonstrate IT skills including MS Office, and have the ability to develop a full understanding of in-house systems
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach and a collegiate mentality
  • Demonstrate attention to detail
  • Be interested in and be prepared to develop knowledge and understanding of world affairs
