Job Description

Underwriter - Bridging/ Development FinanceUp to £75k Basic City of LondonOur client is an established, and award-winning lender that specialises in providing Bridging and Development Finance to their clients. A fantastic opportunity is available for an experienced Bridging / Development Finance Underwriter to join their highlyprofessional team.Responsibilities:

  • Become familiar with the internal underwriting processes and have a strong knowledge of credit policy as well as any regulations and laws that apply to the industry.
  • Manage and effectively progress all assigned loans in the pipeline of transactions from handover to completion (both bridging and development finance loans).
  • Take responsibility for and prioritise assigned loan transactions bearing in mind proposed completion dates or other factors.
  • Execute credit papers to an exceptionally high standard, keeping close attention to detail.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy on all assigned loans across relevant files, documents, and papers.
  • Present transaction recommendations to Credit Committee to ensure that only good quality deals are added to the loan book.
  • Establish effective relationships and two-way communication with all stakeholders in the transaction process (borrower, broker, solicitor, valuer, monitoring surveyor, external investors, and internal management).
  • Maintain good service levels on a per-transaction basis and ensure a consistent approach to expectation management for all stakeholders.
  • Take an investigatory’ approach to reviewing all third-party documentation, questioning all appropriate areas and ensuring the company interests are protected.
  • Maintain strong cross team communication, with a particular focus on Asset Management to help ensure that strength of the loan book is upheld.
  • Be a team player whilst maintaining a respectful and professional working atmosphere within the office.
  • Develop management skills to eventually assist with hiring and training of new junior team members for the underwriting team.
Candidate:
  • The candidate must have underwriting experience within the Development Finance sector/ UK Property Finance Market (Essential)
  • Articulate and confident (Must be able to promote the firms Credit ethos and policy to both internal relations as well as external Investors/Funders)
  • A natural leader who is personable, driven, well-spoken and presented.
