A fantastic opportunity has emerged for a Trainee Caretaker/Handyperson to join one of Badenoch and Clarks largest and leading Housing Association clients in a temporary post, leading to permanent should the successful applicant perform well.Based in South-East London and covering the surrounding areas (e.g. Lewisham and Bromley) by van, the post holder will be involved in visiting elderly care homes, vulnerable resident blocks, carrying out minor repairs in communal areas and residents flats.You will be working as part of a team of three visiting schemes carrying out repairs and improvements in communal areas and grounds. The type of work includes painting internal areas, fixing fences, planting, repairs to gates, sheds, bin stores etc.This is a full time post (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday) and the successful candidate will be expected to have strong interest or knowledge in:* Carrying out a variety of small repair jobs and working effectively as part of a team and under own initiative.* Trade skills, Gardening or DIY.* Raising repair orders.* A good standard of literacy and IT skills (as you will be required to use a PC at times undertaking online courses and assessments. However this can be learnt on the job during the probationary period).Please note, whilst previous caretaking/ handyperson experience would be ideal for this role, my client is very willing to train ambitious and fully committed trainees to do this role, so applications from all career backgrounds will happily be considered.
