The role will involveteaching a significant amount of A level classes. We welcome applicants fromeither selective or wide ability settings, who are keen to work with highachieving and motivated students in a strong and growing department, withimproving results and growing numbers of students studying Physics at A Levelin recent years. At Norton Knatchbull Schoolan average of 80-85% of students study the three Sciences separately at GCSEand numbers taking A Level science are strong and growing, with significantnumbers of students pursuing Science related study at degree level. Studentengagement and interest across all year groups is positive and beyond theclassroom students engage in a wide range of extra-curricular activities inScience and STEM activities. The Science Department is well equipped with 10laboratories, with two additional new laboratories being constructed as part ofour new Digital Learning Centre, due to open in September 2021. The successful applicant will bejoining a vibrant, supportive and cohesive department team. They will beexpected to have the ability to teach all three sciences up to GCSE and Physicsat A Level. Experienced colleagues will be expected to be demonstrate a proventrack record of examination success -and in the case of an NQT evidence of thepotential to do so. The position arises through the promotion of a colleaguewho trained and embarked on their teaching career at NKS. We are looking for anexcellent classroom practitioner who can inspire both colleagues and studentsand lead by example.
