Job Description

Who were looking for Were after a very experienced and capable engineer to work with our development team to deliver high-quality software, quickly and reliably, that has a tangible impact on our business. You must be proficient and up-to-date in your field, have a good idea of how to design software for future supportability and extensibility, and be able to command the respect of your engineering peers immediately. As a Analyst Developer, you will spend time with teams across your area, working on delivery, guiding design and implementation, spotting opportunities to improve what you do, sharing new ideas and best practice, and measuring the difference you make. Youll need to be a versatile and proactive engineer, and be able to express your ideas clearly, without being too wedded to them. Youll put collaboration at the heart of your approach to software development, inviting input widely and making sure all voicesare heard. The team The Wealth IT team consists of some 60 individuals, covering software delivery, application support, infrastructure provisioning and Information Security and is evenly distributed between our Zurich and London offices. There are three delivery teams alignedrespectively to the Finance & Investments, Operations and Client Service areas of the business. The Wealth business is recognised as an increasingly important part of the Schroders Group. We are one year into a broad-ranging technical transformation programme which includes a major upgrade of our core platform and a focus on improving our DevOps capability.A key project for the Investment team is the implementation of a new Portfolio Management System to support the ambitious growth targets of Schroders Wealth. Our IT platform is built largely on commercial off-the-shelf software, centred on Temenos Transact (T24) banking platform, complemented by internally developed software where it delivers significant competitive advantage. Our development technology stack ispolyglot, primarily Java, but with an increasing focus on adoption of the Azure platform and NET. What youll do Work across teams in your area, with design and development, getting your hands dirty on implementation Lead software development in your area with your technical expertise, design excellence, and up-to-date and innovative thinking Bring the experience and know-how to find the right balance between fast delivery, and longer term sustainable delivery Drive a continuous delivery approach which focuses on developing software iteratively, with fast feedback loops, frequent releases, and a "shift-left" approach to testing Working with others across Wealth IT, lead the design and implementation of the future state of the SDLC process and architectural patterns for the Wealth Core Banking Platform The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need Wide, detailed, and up-to-date experience of the technologies and tools in your area Plenty of experience in the full lifecycle of developing software from the first idea to the final execution An excellent understanding of testing approaches and putting testability at the heart of software design and development A good understanding of system integration patterns and associated technologies (commercial and open source) Agile delivery experience, especially around discovering requirements, and breaking those down into features and stories Good experience of buy-vs-build decisions and the trade-offs between these options, and of vendor product technical due diligence Excellent written and spoken English, and communication skills to help manage relationships with stakeholders of all levels. A deep understanding and experience of the Temenos Transact platform.
