A position has arisen for someone with experience with using or managing the Sybase ASE DBMS to help maintain and improve an enterprise scale Sybase deployment. The role is in a small team of Sybase experts and infrastructure engineers who are reponsiblefor certifying new versions and features of the product and automating both to scale across an enterprise environment and to meet new security and audit requirements such as TLS and immutable backup supportThe role is for a person that understands the Sybase DB technology and has an interest in automating around it and writing tools, applications and self-service tooling for developers and application support team to use to assist in development againstthe DBMS platform. The candidate will be responsible for helping certify features asked for by application teams around the firm and working to deliver that feature both with counterparts in the database operation and technology risk functions.ProfileThis role is for a person that understands the Sybase DB technology and has an interest in automating around it and writing tools, applications and self-service tooling for developers and application support team to use to assist in development againstthe DBMS platform. The candidate will be responsible for helping certify features asked for by application teams around the firm and working to deliver that feature both with counterparts in the database operation and technology risk functions.Skills Required:* Knowledge of the Sybase ASE DB platform either in a developer / application support context OR DBA context* Knowledge of a scripting language such as Python / Perl / Shell scripting or config managment tool for automation such as Ansible / puppet* Clear communication and ability to work in a global team receiving requirements from several groupsSkills Desired* Knowledge of CI / CD tooling - Jenkins* Knowledge of working in an agile team* Knowledge of common IT processes, including ITIL and SDLCJob OfferAn exciting 12 x month contract , with a day rate between £600 - £700 per day ( INSIDE IR35)Hybrid working, of 3 days at site, 2 x days from hom each week.
