He loves swimming, walks in the park, days out to Theme Parks such as Chessington World of Adventure, viewing buildings and the sights of London, which he uses public transport to access. He also likes quieter times onhis iPad and drawing. Ronnie is at a residential school during term time, where he benefits from consistent planned schedules with familiar staff and surroundings. When home from school, Ronnie lives with his Mum, Dad, and twin brother. Ronnie has ASC, learningdisabilities, severe language delay and sensory processing disorder, and can present with behaviours that may challenge. His twin brother also has ASC which presents very differently, and he has own support.Overview of role: Ronnie requires a holiday support worker who will offer him a calm and creative structure, and who can turn up their energy when required. Someone who can be proactive and perceptive in different situations. Assisting Ronnie with daily routines such as,making breakfast, dressing, and brushing teeth will be part of the day as well as providing support for the days planned activities. When going out on walks and outings Ronnie requires two support workers, for it to be a more manageable time for all. Ronnielikes to get out at least once a day and have an activity planned in advance, so he requires a support worker to offer ideas and good communication to his parents and other staff to be able to manage and make the trips successful. 2 or 3 days during the weekin school holidays including half terms. 8.00am to 6.30pm. Some flexibility on start/finish times. £19.00 gross per hour.Who this job would suit: This role will suit a support worker who has good experience of working with a young person with ASC and/or behaviours that may challenge. Someone who is quietly confident and robust, and able to really watch and learn to understand family dynamics and focuson Ronnies likes and dislikes. Ronnie really needs to have good structure, so someone who can be organised in advance, mentally and physically.Whats great about this job: Ronnie and his brother have an experienced support worker who has been working with them for a long time, who will offer you full training days and support so you can get to know Ronnie and understand his needs. There is a bedroom with en-suite if you wishto stay over. This is especially helpful if you choose to work a few days running and live further away.
