We have a dutyto deliver wider benefits to society, above and beyond the provision of social housing and those responsibilities are firmly embedded within L&Qs Future Shape, our five-year corporate strategy 2021-2026.An excellent opportunity has arisen for a passionate,self-motivated sustainability professional to play an instrumental role in developing and implementing L&Qs Development & Sales Sustainability Strategy.Reporting to the Production Strategy Director / Production Innovation Lead, you will support the Groupin driving progress across key focus areas for Production Innovation: Climate Emergency Action - decarbonising our homes and activities, while futureproofing our business, residents and communities against the impacts of climate change; Resource & MaterialEfficiency - using resources more efficiently and minimising the amount of waste produced during the construction and operation of our homes and assets; and Healthy Homes & Places - maximising shared value by creating places that are healthy for both peopleand planet.Role Responsibilities: Leading on the development, implementation, reporting and evolution of the Development and Sales Sustainability Strategy for the business with a focus on a roadmap to Future Homes Standard by 2025 and Net Zero Carbon by 2030.Facilitate the development, benchmarking, implementation and ongoing review and reporting of appropriate sustainability objectives, targets and improvement programmes Actively engage with Development and Sales Teams to set out department sustainability objectives,targets and improvement programmes - Production Strategy, New Business (Land), Design & Planning, Design & Technical, Construction, Commercial, Sales Actively engage with L&Q Energy to ensure coordination/synergy with energy supply and conservation strategies,alongside ventilation and overheating mitigation strategies Coordinate with Commercial/Estimating teams to advise company on projected cost impacts in future legislative changes to allow for future proofing of cost planning. Lead on potential industry opportunitiesfor Zero Carbon prototype or research projects. Actively engage with Asset and Regeneration Teams to ensure sustainability requirements are understood and are integrated and monitored against objectives. Actively engage with Finance and Development Financeto cost and price uplift implications and Cost Planning of Sustainability Strategy towards to 2030 Actively engage with Head of Environment within the Community Foundation team, ensuring opportunities for wider ESG benefits from Development & Sales sustainabilityactivity is shared across the group. Working with the Compliance Team to monitor changes in legislation and best practice to ensure continuing legal compliance and best practice in the UK.The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate technical understandingbut will also show a passion to collaborate innovate and drive change across the sustainability & ESG agenda.Writing briefs for the appointment and leading Consultants teams to develop strategy content and project implementation guidance and reporting materialCommunicationsand literature - e.g 2030 Plan & Targets - brochures, branding, visibility piecesKnowledge Areas: Awareness of UK Sustainability Standards and Guidance including GLA standards, Future Homes Standards, LETI, RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge, UKGBC, Building RegulationsUnderstanding of Standard Assessment Procedure assessments Strong understanding of Fabric First principles and best practice Experience undertaking, reporting on Post Occupancy Evaluations (POEs) from a Sustainability - monitoring and performance monitoring;e.g with consideration of Be Seen (GLA)Skills and Capabilities: Qualification / Masters degree in a relevant field (e.g. Sustainability, Environmental / Earth Sciences, Responsible Business) Professional experience working as an ESG programme manager / lead,sustainability consultant, or similar within the Housing (preferably) / Commercial Real Estate/Built Environment sector. Experience in the development & implementation of a sustainability programme for a large organisation Ability to proactively engage andeducate a diverse set of Client stakeholder groups including design & technical staff, property managers, facilities and building managers. Strong communication skills (both written and verbal); effective and confident presenter. Ability to present and writehigh-level strategic papers / reports to Board and Executive Committee Groups as well as operational teams and audiences Proven quantitative, analytical and problem-solving capabilities Ideal candidate will have strengths in technical delivery as well as astrategic outlook with ability to horizon scan Client impact: Driving the highest standard of work for clients at all times and develops client relationships beyond a project basis where possible and being the first touch point for the client in all matters.Strategic thinking: Offer sound strategic advice based on an understanding of the clients, business, and industry; and knowledge of current and emerging sustainability and ESG trends. Collaboration & Leadership: Lead by example, is seen to be delivering, workscollaboratively with others and actively promotes shared learning.
