Job Description

The Role The Supplier Management team are charged with developing, implementing, maintaining and improving the Supplier Management Framework.The supply base has been segmented into three tiers: those in the top two tiers require a designated Supplier Manager. For technology suppliers, these are employed in BTS. For non-technology suppliers, mainly in the HR and Business Services departments in Operations, we are in following a hybrid model. In some cases, this role will be accountable for managing the supplier; in others, the department will be accountable, with the designated Supplier Manager being supported by this role.The designated Supplier Manager will have responsibility for creating and delivering supplier management plans and working practices, in compliance with the Supplier Management Framework, to:

  • Support the generation of value for money for both the company and the supplier;
  • Protect the company from supplier failure and reputational damage by undertaking supply chain risk management; and
  • Identify and deliver benefits and opportunities
  • In addition, this role will act as an advisor to business stakeholders within the company on Supplier Management matters and support other team members to achieve the team goals.What does the role involve What are the key responsibilities
  • Create, implement and deliver supplier management plans that comply with the Supplier Management Framework and deliver value for money by taking responsibility for the management of suppliers and ensure reporting and supplier performance data is robust and accurate
  • Responsibility for actively managing a supplier portfolio ensuring all Supplier Management activities are completed on time, actions are tracked, any required contract changes requests are agreed and documented and accurate timely reporting is provided
  • Manage complex working relationships with internal stakeholders to understand and manage supplier performance risk and contractual issues in line with the company and public procurement and other applicable regulations following a successful handover process at the end of a Procurement process
  • Identify, build and maintain stakeholder relationships required to implement supplier management strategies to support the delivery of business initiatives, work with key stakeholders to obtain joint commitment, with an increased focus on business impact including commercial, supplier performance and supply chain risk reduction. Responsible and providing support as required for ensuring business stakeholders carry out their responsibilities to complete activities relating to the supplier management framework such as operations review meetings
  • Expected to support the Head of Supplier Management and Senior Supplier Managers by collating reporting MI on a regular basis looking at how suppliers are performing and how relationships are working

  • Experience of working in a Supplier Management or Contract Management team
  • Essential
  • Proven background and track record in supplier/contract management with specific experience in delivering efficiencies and performance management
  • IACCM SRM Practitioner or equivalent;( or willingness to work towards gaining appropriate level of qualification
  • Experience required in the following areas:

  • Influencing skills toward internal business stakeholders and suppliers
  • Logical and analytical skills
  • Communications and problem solving
  • Understand the strategic sourcing process in terms of the handover from sourcing to supplier management and back to sourcing as required,
