We are currently looking to appoint an experienced, innovative qualified Teacher to join us as Subject Leader of Business Studies.Your opportunityThis is a unique opportunity to help establish a brand new sixth form academy in Lambeth. You will need to be highly talented and knowledgeable about sixth form teaching. Using your talents and knowledge, the main aspects of this role are:

To establish world-class provision within business. This particularly has a focus on the curriculum: its planning, sequencing, implementation and impact.

To be accountable for student progress, their high-quality work and a depth of knowledge and skills across the range of subjects. This includes meeting targets for subject areas which are agreed by the Principal and the Governing Body

To ensure high standards of teaching and learning across the subject areas through a relentless focus on subject pedagogy, relevant research and keeping teachers up to date with the latest developments in the subject

To ensure that all academy policies and procedures are implemented and applied consistently by all colleagues in the subject

To effectively and efficiently manage and deploy teaching/support staff, financial and physical resources across the subject areas, with the support and working alongside senior leaders

To be a role model for everyone in your team and the students in our academy.

Current plans include offering A levels in Business alongside CTEC Business. This post will grow as the academy grows and more staff join the team moving forward.We have the best resources and facilities at the academy, including spacious classrooms, including those with dedicated IT facilities and study spaces. Staff will have the resources and books that they need to teach their subject.We have already appointed the two Assistant Principals, Sarah Heuston and Sagar Patel, who alongside Mr Hainey, will make up the leadership team. However, collective leadership involves everyone. Our curriculum leaders and subject leaders will be vital appointments in helping to lead and shape what we expect from our subject areas.We will open in September 2021 with Year 12 only - our capacity is 300 students. Our recruitment has been going exceptionally well. You will hear more about our plans during the interview stage. Subject expertise - you will be an experienced Teacher with specialist knowledge of Business Studies and be committed to on-going professional development.

Flexibility - we are a new academy, taking on our first cohort in September 2021. We will have to work together.

Commitment - we will all need to go above and beyond to make Harris Clapham Sixth Form the best it can be.

Team spirit - all work is everybodys work.

QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.

Our capacity is 600 students over Year 12 and 13. Our vision of Be the best will apply equally to staff and students. Our building will have excellent facilities, all specifically designed to meet the needs of a sixth form curriculum.Our values focus on Courage, Confidence and Commitment. These will underpin all our work. Construction is well under way and scheduled to finish in the summer of 2021.Sam Hainey is the Executive Principal of the academy, he also oversees Harris Clapham, a separate school for students in Years 7 to 11, a short walk from the Sixth Form academy. While the two academies will be separate schools, there will be some natural opportunities for both to work together, for example, sixth form students mentoring and working with students in Years 7 to 11.
