YOUR OPPORTUNITYWe are seeking an outstanding Success Coach to support pupils online to achieve their very highest potential in their sixth form education and develop the skills and mindset required for success at School and beyond.We are looking for experienced educators with a passion for pastoral care, and expertise in supporting pupils applying and preparing for university and their career beyond. Experience in working with academically ambitious pupils considering applicationsto US and international universities is particularly welcome.The role will be part-time with the possibility of full time, depending on the candidates availability and school needs.HARROW SCHOOL ONLINEHarrow School Online is a new kind of school offering a fully online A level education, allowing pupils across the globe to enjoy the benefits of virtual learning and an international school community without leaving their homes. Our School is founded onthe educational philosophy, practices, and traditions of Harrow School, and delivered by Pearson through a bespoke online platform. We are seeking an outstanding Success Coach whose passion is to enable pupils highest potential through pastoral care and advisingon career choices.THE ROLE OF A SUCCESS COACH AT HARROW SCHOOL ONLINEYou will be working with academically ambitious students situated in the UK and across the world studying towards Pearson Edexcel International AS and A level qualifications and preparing for university and a life of learning, leadership, service and personalfulfilment.Success Coaches work with pupils and their parents or mentors to support pupils as they progress through their education. They provide pupils with guidance in becoming effective independent learners and assist them as they make university application andcareer plans, and take the steps needed to work towards these plans. They are the first point of contact for parents or mentors to liaise with Harrow School Online and address any pupil concerns in pastoral or non-academic issues.YOUR POSITION WITHIN THE SCHOOLYou will be joining the Pastoral Team, and work with another success coach and a SEND coordinator. Line management for the position is to the Harrow School Online Principal.You will be a Pearson employee, but will have additional oversight and support from Harrow School, in particular from the Learning Support department.Full training is given on our virtual learning environment and virtual classroom software.WHAT WILL A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE LOOK LIKEYou will be an empathetic and pupil-centred professional who is able to advise, motivate and support pupils through regular individual coaching sessions and weekly online lessons. We are looking for educators who have previous experience advising pupilson their careers, supporting high achieving pupils with their university choices and applications and future career plans. The successful candidate will have the ability and drive to develop the highest standards of support for pupils and a willingness tobe involved in all aspects of the school.All members of staff are expected to conduct themselves in line with the schools values: Courage, Honour, Humility and Fellowship.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe successful applicant will:

  • provide advice and support to pupils and their parents or mentor on matters related to the pupils learning and progress at Harrow School Online, their university application and their career plans;
  • lead on advice to pupils who are applying to universities outside the UK, including US universities;
  • meet with pupils at least fortnightly to provide individualised coaching;
  • deliver live lessons on a Learning and Leading programme which covers the skills, strategies and mindset required for pupils to be successful at Harrow School Online and in their life beyond the School;
  • advise and assist pupils in their applications to leading universities, becoming an expert on course selection and entrance requirements and offering support to pupils with their applications and personal statements;
  • liaise with teachers and tutors and coordinate support for pupils who are in need of additional assistance in order to achieve to the best of their potential;
  • liaise with a SENDCo over the support and accommodations afforded to Harrow School Online pupils with special educational needs and differences;
  • supervise a range of extra-curricular activities, encourage pupil participation in the extra-curricular programme and monitor pupil progress in the House Award programme;
  • help to shape and extend the pastoral and learning support offered to pupils at Harrow School Online; and
  • be proactively involved in other key areas of the schools development, particularly at this early stage of the initiative.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability and experience in coaching and supporting individual pupils and in teaching classes or small groups of pupils in a sixth form setting.
  • Experience in assisting students with preparation for making successful applications to top-tier universities, in particular universities in the US and international universities.
  • Understanding of the skills, strategies and mindset required for success at School and beyond.
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills.
  • A creative, inquisitive mind.
  • Excellent organisation and administration skills.
  • Impressive academic qualifications, including a good degree.

  • The desire to continuously develop their teaching practice formally and informally.

Previous experience supporting pupils online is welcomed but is not a pre-requisite for the role.FLEXIBLE WORKING HOURS AND TEACHING LOCATIONOur school term dates are based on those of Harrow School, with a September to June academic year. You are additionally required to be available for around five days in August for induction training. Our pupils are distributed over a range of time zones and to accommodate those based in Asia some lessons may be timetabled early in the mornings UK time.
