Description: Storage Engineer required on new project with large Financial Service client. Fully Remote available for this position. One engineer on the project put in as resource on demand. Specification below includes full details of the position withthe core skills outlined below Skills: SAN Dell Unity Cover Point data domain Datacenter based by Dunstable, with two other sites that travel may be necessary - will consider someone who would work remotely Storage & Backup Specialist Background to Role The individual will be joining the Storage Services teamThis team are responsible for all Storage, SAN and Backup deployments within Production, Test and Development environments, as well as ongoing maintenance troubleshooting and administration of thesame.The Storage Services Team resource all phases of delivery, from Technical Architecture, through Build and into Run.The role of Storage & Backup Specialist requires the individual to work on implementation of internal and external environmentsutilising product and technical expertise with the project team.The individual will also need to deliver an outstanding level of Storage & Backup Administration Support across all of systems, ensuring that systems meet or exceed their SLAs. Key accountabilitiesand duties The role will require close interaction with all other technical areas such as Networks, Unix Platform Administration, Database Systems Administration, Middleware Support Typically, the role will require the post holder to perform all of the following: Perform advanced Storage & Backup troubleshooting (and performance tuning) coordinated with other areas/parties if required.Implement Storage & Backup Hardware and 3rd Party Software installs and upgrades.Document and manage change to existing hardware/software. Contribute to the development and continuous review of appropriate practices, standards and guidelines.To deliver to demanding timescalesTo provide technical expertise to all other Infrastructure and Network teams.Work with the Storage team leadarchitect to design and plan project buildsUndertake vulnerability investigation and resolutions as required from the security team. Working instructions:The Engineer will primarily be working at the Dunstable site although 100% remote working may be a possibility. They will also be remotely responsible for two other sites; Harrogate and Debden (Essex), the latter will require SC clearance.The individualwill participate on a callout rota of one week in every five,, providing out of hours support for the production Storage & San environmentsIt is possible that whilst on call the individual be required to perform weekend working for upgrades, patching andother such tests that cannot be performed during the business day.
