Job Description

Software Engineer (AWS / Java)A global powerhouse within the social media industry is looking for a Software Engineer (AWS / Java) to join their team remotely on an initial 12 month contract.Senior software engineer with experience supporting and operating complex user-facing products. The role will be responsible for maintenance and tactical enhancement of large-scale web and API applications on AWS focusing on performance, scalability andstability. The role will work closely with the core engineering team and with multiple cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. data, privacy).Key responsibilities

  • Monitor the health and performance of the existing social media analytics product
  • Investigate and remediate production incidents, ensuring availability, reliability and
  • performance of all product surfaces (web application, public API, browser extension,
  • public web)
  • Perform tactical infrastructure enhancements where feasible, ensuring the same level of
  • SLAs
  • Work closely with Ops team, core engineering team and other teams on resolving
  • production issues
Required Skills / Qualifications
  • Strong experience building and supporting web-based products and APIs
  • Experience supporting products in production (monitoring / incident response /
  • troubleshooting)
  • Solid experience in core Java, strong experience in Java / Spring development
  • Good understanding of core AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, Elastic Beanstalk, SQS,
  • ElastiCache, Kinesis, Redshift, CloudWatch) and AWS architecture best practices and experience in developing, deploying, and debugging cloud-based applications using AWS
  • String hands on in SQL and should be able to write complex queries
  • Experience in Ci/CD processes (Git, Maven, Jenkins)
  • Data protection and privacy functional knowledge is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently
