Job Description

Software EngineerLocation: LondonLength: 6mRate: £41.35 per hour (Inside IR35) Hours: 9am – 6pmREF no: 741121This client is a top 5 tech giant and one of the worlds most popular search engines.This is a hybrid role, so you will split your time between home office and the clients offices in central London. On-site you will be able to access their amazingfacilities and quirky working spaces, as well as free breakfast/ lunch/ dinner, on-site gyms, outdoor spaces and roof gardens, wellness rooms and sleep podsResponsibilities: Deliver end-to-end tasks towards a larger goal with minimal assistance from more senior team members.Produce completed work of consistently high-quality, demonstrating most or all of the hallmarks of fleshed-out with our clients engineering artifacts.Plan and execute prioritized project work independently, managing their own priorities and making appropriately paced progress without supervision.Participate in design, though often with guidance.ChallengeIdentify technical problems with requirements and fix them, helping the team to course-correct when necessary.Address commonly escalated issues or triage when required.May proactively spot and suggest areas of future work for self and team.InfluenceWork within one or more teams to communicate knowledge related to broad set of tasks.Identify key stakeholders and contribute to cross-team collaboration.Coordinate timelines, goals, and objectives for assigned project component(s), understanding how work fits in with related projects or components, including dependencies and upstream/downstream implications.ExpertiseDemonstrate the development of at least one major skill outside of core coding (e.g., reliability monitoring and alerting, security and privacy practices and techniques, ensuring implementation choices support product inclusion and lead to equitable and inclusiveuser outcomes, documentation, integration testing, production hygiene and support processes), and an understanding of related areas with our client.SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:Code comprehensionAbility to extract relevant information from reading code in one or more core languages and frameworks, including the ability to leverage the code as a resource to create work output for users or stakeholders.Code health and toolsAbility to redesign or refactor code to address technical debt, maintain readability, or develop tools as necessary to improve code health.Data structures and algorithmsAbility to select or design an algorithm and appropriate data structures to solve a problem or improve a product, framework, or the scale/speed/efficiency/reliability of a system.Debugging and bug-fixingAbility to debug, triage, and fix program code or technical issues (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational, process) by locating, mitigating the impact, and fixing errors. This includes the ability to conduct root-cause analysis, isolate the sourceof the problem, and resolve the bugs.Programming for SWEKnowledge of programming languages. This includes programming practices, major features and capabilities, and system management tools.
