Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day execution of the contracts concluded by the Traders.
  • Preparation & maintenance of shipment files
  • Check the purchase and sales contract shipping terms and conditions, raising any problems.
  • Check the corresponding charterparty or fixture note conditions and approve or amend the same.
  • Ensure vessel nominations are made and approvals received;In some instances for Egypt and Spanish vessels, issue shipping instructions and BL instructions.
  • Check and approve invoices for freight, shore crane usage, inspections, additional lashing etc.
  • After completion of loading / discharge operations, calculate demurrage / despatch incurred by reference to the statement of facts.
  • Instructing / Appointing cargo surveyors at loading and discharging port(s).
  • Issuing documentary instructions for timely preparation of shipping documents.
  • To ensure that effective and accurate shipping documentation is in place.
  • Undertaking of any other ad-hoc duties.
Skills / Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years work experience gaining in Bulk Shipping / Operations positions.
  • Charterparty Terms and exposure to shipping of bulk cargoes and commodity trading practices – essential.
  • An understanding of incoterms
  • Experience and familiarity with all aspects of shipping documentation and knowledge of UCP 600 rules.
  • Experience in import / export through international seaports and use of shipping terms / Incoterms 2020.
  • Experience of working in an international commercial business with sound knowledge of contract
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Strong I.T. skills including proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Excellent analytical, organisation and time management skills
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
  • Self-starter with the ability to use initiative for problem solving.
  • Resourceful, innovative, and proactive
  • Personable with the ability to build relationships and communicate with all levels both internally and externally.
