Job Description

About the roleThis role is to manage a team of internal typesetters and suppliers, in the typesetting and amendment of secure exam papers. To provide expertise in the production of exam papers, to the highest level of accuracy and quality, ensuring the security of theitem is maintained throughout the production cycle. The role reports into the Customer Planning & Logistics Manager.KEY RESPONSIBILITES:Design and delivery of Exam papers

  • To oversee the typesetting, amendment and delivery of high stakes assessment material for GQ and VQ markets, undertaken by in-house designers and suppliers.
  • To provide expertise in the production of exam papers, to the highest level of accuracy and quality, ensuring the security of the item is maintained throughout the production cycle.
  • To ensure the procedures laid out within the Ten Stage processes of exam paper production and the Ofqual Code of Practice are being implemented by typesetters and Suppliers.
  • Ensure work is managed through the workflow tool: tracking, recording and providing regular communication and dialogue across all stakeholders.
  • Ensure standards of design, illustration, media and animation are in line with industry standards.
  • Ensure team are adopting and creating design templates.
  • Champion good brand practice and liaise closely with key branding stakeholders.
  • Ensure team secure IP for all commissioned assets.
  • Implement usability and accessibility guidelines for all visual design elements of our materials.
Lead on specific business initiatives and process change as directedSupplier management
  • Support the delivery of the Assessment Processing Team supplier strategy; to drive consolidated supplier solutions and cost reductions in the delivery of secure assessment materials.
  • Source appropriate suppliers according to project requirements and help set up Contracts and Statements of Work in accordance with Pearson Global standards.
  • Build and manage relationships with onshore and offshore suppliers to ensure timeliness, quality and best pricing.
  • Lead ongoing regular reviews of key supplier performance, including ongoing due diligence; lead quarterly direct reviews with suppliers to feedback and forward plan.
  • To include overseeing the training, ongoing support and communication strategy for each supplier.
Budget and cost management
  • Define metrics, devise and implement reporting structure to appropriately track supplier activity and saving.
  • Contribute to budget planning for Processing Team
People management
  • Recruit, develop, mentor and motivate a team of design and typesetting professionals
  • Identify and develop those with high potential.
  • Create a positive learning culture in the team and across the department.
  • Work with and liaise closely with other Pearson UK teams, departments and divisions
Content tools, workflows and processes
  • Lead on and champion process improvement, including cost-saving initiatives and technological advancement in design and technology processes
  • Advise on most cost effective workflow.

  • Excellent knowledge of the Adobe creative suite
  • Knowledge of front-end web development language, ie HTML, CSS
Role Location: This is a hybrid role and will allow for home working as well as from one of our offices based in Manchester, Hellaby Rotherham or London.
