The Royal Marsden has a vital role in championing change and improvement in cancer care through research and innovation, education and leading-edge practice. We are incredibly proud of our international reputation for pushing the boundaries and for our ground-breaking work ensuring our patients receive the very best and latest in cancer treatment and care.In our renewed strategy, one of the major research areas is early detection of cancer. This is incorporated into all of the tumour-specific research themes including lung cancer and gastrointestinal cancers. Broadly the overall research aim in early cancer detection is to save lives through early detection of minimal disease harnessing the potential of the genome, metabalome, microbiome, circulating DNA, other blood-based biomarkers and novel imaging. Secondary prevention (i.e. following the curative treatment of primary cancers) is a further aim of our research programmes with a particular focus on interventions based on minimal residual disease detection.The Senior Trial Manager will be an integral member of the Early Diagnosis and Detection Centre, team which will be newly established from December 2020. The start date for this post is April 2021. The purpose of the post is as follows:1.1. The Senior Trial Manager will, together with the Research Operations Lead, coordinate multifunctional teams consisting of scientists, clinicians, statisticians, database programmers and support services to project manage early diagnosis and detection research within the portfolio of the Early Diagnosis and Detection Centre.1.2. The Senior Trial Manager will oversee all aspects of clinical trial management from initial research idea through to trial close-out, and the role may include protocol development, set-up including regulatory approvals, on-going management, closeout and reporting.1.3. The Senior Trial Manager, alongside the Research Operations Lead, will be responsible for contributing to ensuring that the Centre is an invigorating environment, ensuring increasing staff recruitment and retention in an increasingly competitive environment.1.4. The Senior Trial Manager, alongside the Research Operations Lead, will seek out and liaise with academic and industry collaborators to attract investment and stimulate enthusiasm, collaboration and innovation throughout the Trust.This post will report into the Research Operations Lead, joining The Royal Marsden in December 2020.
