Job Description

Role Definition: We are looking for a Senior Technician who specialises in Binding Authority Agreements to join our team that places Binding Authorities across multiple product lines for our global clients! This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a global leading broking group, in a team which has recently been set up and is rapidly growing within the Binding Authority space.The successful candidate will be managing all technical aspects of Binding Authorities and will be the point of contact for the broking team to ensure high quality support for the business in a Technical capacity and to ensure the delivery of a high quality service to clients. They will also provide support to junior technicians in the team by developing their technical knowledge. Key Responsibilities / Accountability: Planning & Reporting:

  • Works with senior members of the team to agree key priorities so that they can handle and plan their workload, and assist and guide less experienced members of staff where required, ensuring that personal/ team objectives are achieved and agreed targets are met
  • Runs assigned projects and contribute to other projects as required
  • Provides relevant management information to management team, as required
  • Technical:
  • Contributes to the monitoring of the output of teams within area of responsibility ensuring that this is within agreed service and quality standards
  • Binding Authority / Endorsement creation
  • Binding Authority and Claims bordereaux: checking, processing and submitting to Xchanging managing queries as they arise
  • Submission of cash and de-linked premium documentation to Xchanging via IMR (and managing any queries raised)
  • Keeping up to date triangulated numbers each month on the Binding Authorities. Circulate the same to Cover-holders and Underwriters each month
  • Provide technical advice and information as required to Account Handlers and Brokers
  • Use of Lloyds Crystal, Risk Locator, Atlas and Binding Authority Registration systems
  • Provide technical input when required at Underwriter, client or market meetings.
  • Undertake renewal and ad hoc statistical analysis as required
  • Keeps advised of all regulatory and legal changes which impacts on the job role, as well as all market technical process changes which will affect the team
  • Ensures accurate records are maintained at all times on the Company systems
  • Collaborate closely with claims team on claims issues & reports, responding appropriately to urgent issues as they arise
  • Policy, Process and Procedures:
  • Interprets instructions and issues arising, and then implement actions according to policies and procedures
  • Environment, Customer Focus and Relationships:
  • Develops positive relationships with their Business Unit(s), acting as an escalation point for any of the teams within their areas of responsibility
  • Develops positive relationships with clients as appropriate
  • Responds to the internal/ external clients requirements as appropriate, behaving fairly and ethically
  • Shares information that could be beneficial to the Operating Entity/Group
  • Regulatory and Compliance: The Board of each Operating Entity requires the highest standards of corporate governance, operational excellence and financial reporting throughout the Group from all its employees. Specific responsibilities are listed below.
  • Ensures compliance of self and direct reports (if any) with all applicable legal, fiscal and regulatory obligations in the form of policies and procedures
  • Ensures performance, HR and T&C records are up to date and meet the Operating Entity and/or Group’s requirements. Whilst also ensuring that the accurate authorisation is acquired and relevant processes are followed.
  • Maintains accurate records and deals with correspondence appropriately
  • Operates in a transparent, professional and ethical manner
  • Closely adheres to the Group Employee Code of Conduct
  • Knowledge & Experience:
  • Previous experience in a similar Binding Authority position is crucial
  • Good understanding of the Lloyds and London market as well as the Future at Lloyd’s projects
  • Experience using Lloyds Crystal, Atlas and Binding Authority Registration systems
  • Knowledge of Global XB (desirable)
  • Experience of drafting and checking binding authority contracts
  • Knowledge of Binder Cloud and DA SATS (desirable)
  • Proficient IT skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Able to undertake and demonstrate competence in technical training, as required by the industry regulator
  • Strong understanding of FCA regulations as they pertain to insurance intermediaries
  • Experience in Binding Authorities over multiple product lines and territories (desirable)
  • Excellent understanding of processes and procedures within the insurance market. Able to audit and check the work of others
  • Skills & Behaviours:

  • Willingness to research and learn the nuances associated with new product lines or territories
  • Qualifications:
  • GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) - must have acquired grades in both English and Maths
  • A level Grade A-C (or equivalent)
  • Progression towards gaining a professional qualification is desired, but not crucial
