Job Description

We have a range of positions available, including an exciting opportunity for someone to lead and manage the team of statisticians based in our London and Edinburgh offices.We would like to hear from candidates with experience in social or market research, government, public/voluntary sector, or academia. The role The Senior Statistician will provide statistical support on quantitative research projects, design sampling strategies and undertake complex data analysis using techniques such as logistic regression and Latent Class Analysis (LCA);As a Senior Statistician, you will review, develop and implement new methodology related to survey design and analysis and advise researchers and customers on statistical and methodological issues.You will be part of the tendering process for research projects and contribute to research and technical reports.The successful candidate will have: Either a degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Survey Methodology, or a quantitative social science background or other discipline with substantial statistical content. Relevant experience of working in applied social research; for example, in market research, government, public/voluntary sector, or academia. This can include work towards successful completion of a post graduate qualification with a strong research or research methods component. Knowledge of survey statistics, ideally some practical experience of survey sampling and weighting. Familiarity with SPSS, Stata, R or a similar statistical package (preferably with experience of scripting/coding using the relevant command language).About the National Centre for Social ResearchAt the National Centre for Social Research, were driven by the belief that social research has the power to make life better.
