Job Description

Senior SQL Server DBA - Leading Hedge Fund:

  • Permanent.
  • Remote currently (Client based in central London).
  • Circa £68,0000 - £75,0000 (neg) + excellent bonus & Package.
    • Company & Role for Senior SQL Server DBA - Leading Hedge Fund:Our client are a global and market leading Hedge Fund. We are currently helping them to hire an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Senior MSSQL Server Database Administrator to join a Database team which currently includes 3 members. 80% of their environment covers SQL Server while the remainder is made up of Oracle and Vertica.You will be solely responsible for the SQL element, however if you have an interest in cross-training and learning anything else, there is a great opportunity to be able to do so.You will be responsible for engineering and support of multiple MSSQL databases, Analysis Services and Reporting Services environments.We’re looking for someone who has strong operational experience designing, developing and rolling out database engineering solutions, whilst providing support for complex DBA issues, incidents and service requests.Responsibilities in brief for Senior SQL Server DBA - Leading Hedge Fund:Engineering a sustainable and robust RDBMS solution for all data requirements including:
  • Version Standards.
  • Backup and restore solutions.
  • Standardised monitoring and reporting.
  • Security models.
  • Disaster recovery solutions.
    • Also covering:
  • Performance analysis and capacity planning.
  • Controlling the execution of development changes into the production database environment.
  • Project management smooth deployment of RDBMS components of new applications and upgrades.
  • Root cause analysis of complex issues and incidents and providing robust long term fixes.
    • Strong DBA engineering & support experience in a dynamic operational support environment:
  • Database design and capacity planning
  • Backup and Recovery
  • Database and SQL performance tuning and monitoring
  • T-SQL scripting
  • Database patching and Upgrades
  • Database maintenance (table/index reorg - update stats)
  • large multi-terabyte databases
    • Essential Technical skills for Senior SQL Server DBA - Leading Hedge Fund:
  • Deep experience with MSSQL Server 2016 to 2019.
  • Strong experience with performance and tuning.
  • Reasonable experience with MSSQL SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services (Multidimensional and Tabular).
  • Reasonable experience with MSSQL SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Service).
  • Some experience with Windows PowerShell.
    • Desirable technical skills for Senior SQL Server DBA - Leading Hedge Fund:
  • SQL Sentry.
  • Oracle/Vertica.
  • SCOM setup and management.
  • Grafana.
  • Linux and UNIX servers.
    • Any experience in financial services is helpful, but experience working in a fast paced energetic environment is just as good! Required skills
