My client, a household name with the most popular website within their field are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Product Development Department.They offer a flat-organisational structure with several autonomous delivery teams (of no more than 11 people) each with their own clear missions, roadmaps and exciting new features to deliver. With every team boasting their own UX/UI, Front-End, Back-End,QA and Product Owners as well as support from Architects and Platform & Operations teams, this is an opportunity to work with your own SCRUM team, owning your code and releasing changes as frequently as you choose. As well as this, you will be able to workFlexibly from across England, using a constantly updating cutting edge tech-stack with engineers from across the business on cross-team deliverables.In this role you will be: Coding Stories with your team to deliver the Sprint goal. Working closely with your Product Owner to understand customer requirements and contributing to the Epics and Stories that become deliverable features. Balancing product delivery with technical excellence by proposing technical Stories that help your team meet our departmental technical goals. During the Sprint youll be coding your own Stories and helping less experienced engineers through pair programming, code review and coaching. Developing solutions to complex technical problems that you will review with your own team and our Architects. Working on cross-team deliverables, collaborating with engineers from other teams because as a Senior we offer you the opportunity to work with multiple teams. (Where needed) Working directly with 3rd party engineers when integrating their APIs into our services. Actively participating in your teams Agile events: Refinement, Planning, Sprint Review, Retrospective and daily Stand-ups. Contributing to cross prod/dev activities to improve our department wide tooling, working practices and standards. Providing technical direction and leadership within your own team and across prod/dev by contributing to our active internal developer community.The ideal candidate will have:
