Job Description

Senior Software DeveloperFully RemoteOutside IR35Oct 2021 We are looking for a Senior Software Developer (Systems) to join our client, an award-winning global expert in connectivity services for the media and entertainment industry, for an initial period of three months. You will join their Product team, workingwith a family of products which are concerned with ultra-low latency audio/video. This is a great opportunity for a generalist who loves to solve complex problems.Responsibilities

  • Providing innovative, high-performance tools to the media industry using the most appropriate technology for the task. The products involved use technologies such as Python, Gstreamer, Nameko, JavaScript, React/Redux, React Native, WebRTC and more.
  • Master difficult engineering challenges involving real-time streaming and response; the sort of challenges you might not normally find in a web startup environment.
  • Deliver quality and sustainable code within a fast-paced industry.
  • Collaborate with the team, Product Management and others, supporting each other in delivering solutions
Required
  • At ease with multiple programming languages: the backend is predominantly Python, but you should have experience with systems programming as well - C/C++/Rust/Golang.
  • Foundational knowledge of networking.
  • Strong fundamentals of Linux systems with experience / exposure to Linux server environments (ideally Debian-based distros).
  • Strong track record of design in systems.
  • Exposure to the concepts of configuration management and containerisation.
Desirable
  • WebRTC (native/C++ would be useful) / other video streaming technologies / SRT / NDI.
  • Experience with FFmpeg or Gstreamer for any kind of video-based requirement in the past 5 years.
  • Understanding of audio/visual concepts, either in a professional or personal capacity.
  • Having some exposure to system hardware management, including build, maintenance, upgrade of either personal or commercial systems.
