Job Description

Senior Salesforce DeveloperReports to: Head of CRM and TechnologyResponsible for: Leading the development of, and supporting the Salesforce platform.Job purpose: The Senior Salesforce Developer leads the ongoing development of the Salesforce platform. This includes leading the improvement of processes, adoption using the Salesforce platform and helping us become more data-driven by introducingimproved analytics capabilities.The Senior Salesforce Developer is responsible for application and database architecture and acts as the in-house Salesforce technical specialist, leading on the management, implementation, integration, development (improvement), and support thereof.Dimensions:

  • Lead the development of the Salesforce platform.
  • Definition, design and implementation of Salesforce application and data architectures.
  • Line manage the Junior Salesforce Developer and Salesforce Administrator role.
  • Support IT Development Staff in development and standards.
  • Develop and support projects as required.

Key result areas:
  • Collaborate with Membership, Exams, Events and relevant third parties (includes Salesforce and Fonteva) to ensure smooth operation of our CRM.
  • To take ownership, oversee and lead on Salesforce development and support including periodic Salesforce or other upgrades.
  • Provide training for staff on use of our Salesforce system and support the client making the most of its CRM and improving the quality of its data.
  • Effectively line manage the Junior Salesforce Developer and Salesforce Administrator in line with our management principles and polices.
  • Lead on setting technical standards and guidelines for Salesforce, and coach developers on reusability, best practices etc.
  • Review Salesforce and product Releases and analyse technical and business impact, advising business on new features.
  • Provide inputs and direction to the project teams across the client.
  • Perform primary application testing to minimize number of application bugs, facilitate user testing and user acceptance.
  • Collaboration with Product Owner, Business Analysts and End Users in identifying possible application enhancements and in identifying bugs.
  • Working closely with Project Managers and Business Analysts to produce accurate delivery estimates and manage the transition from analysis through to design and delivery.
  • Keep and maintain project source code in source control system according to documented policy.
  • Understanding business requirements and designing technical design documents.
  • Ensure awareness, involvement and support from the key stakeholders and participants by building strong project teams and maintaining robust communication.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that risks and issues are identified and managed closely and drive all stakeholders to deliver on time and to the required quality standards.
  • Work closely with relevant teams internally to ensure alignment and coordination across operations as part of the seamless implementation of existing and new systems.
  • Supporting project resource scheduling and department capacity planning.
  • Work on a wide range of projects involving the implementation of new and existing systems, solutions and processes.
  • Take responsibility for making key decisions to ensure the successful implementation of all Salesforce and CRM initiatives.
  • Be a member of the IT & Digital Technical Design Authority.
  • Assist the IT & Digital management team with resource planning and demand management.
  • Be an interested and active member of the staff team within the IT and Digital team working closely with others and in line with our people values to ensure that we are seen to be a responsive, courteous and efficient organisation both by our members andother key audiences.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with our Health & Safety Policies and procedures.
  • To take responsibility for the provision of health and safety for themselves and the compliance of other employees/colleagues in own service area.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science or Computer Applications
  • Salesforce Administrator certification (essential)
  • Salesforce Developer Certified (essential)
  • Experience/understanding of Apex/Visualforce (essential)
Experience
  • Substantial IT experience with at least 2+ years of Salesforce project development experience.
  • Strong Salesforce customization and configuration experience (at least 1 or more of the following five Salesforce modules: Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Communities and knowledge).
  • Hands on development experience using Salesforce configuration and customizations using Apex, Visualforce, Triggers, Scheduled and Batch classes etc.
  • Experience using Salesforce data tools (Data Loader, DemandTools, Eclipse Force.com IDE)
  • Proven integration experience using integration techniques - REST, SOAP APIs, oAuth and Single Sign-On.
  • Implementation of relational database concepts and database design.
  • Supporting users in the use of database driven applications.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Product Development Lifecycle and DevOps Tools like GIT, Jenkins, JIRA etc.
  • A thorough understanding of Salesforce Deployment Process and tools like ANT, Change Sets and Force.com IDE.
  • Ability to write SQL Queries, stored procedures, DTSs, SSIS.
  • Knowledge of complex data extraction, transformation and data loading techniques.
  • Designing and maintaining complex reports and dashboards in Salesforce.
