Job Description

Mace is an international consultancy and construction company that has delivered world class projects since 1990. Today we employ over 6,000 people across North America, Europe, Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, India and Asia Pacific.The opportunityBe a part of our group services team that provide support to all businesses across our five global hubs, based in our corporate head office in London.As our senior payroll manager you will be the subject matter expert for payroll and benefits matters ensuring the HR team are up to date with payroll and benefits changes that affect Mace colleagues.You will be accountable for delivering an operationally excellent, statutorily compliant UK and international payroll and benefits service for Mace as well as managing the relationship with 3rd party providers of payroll and benefits support service providers ensure service compliance and value for money.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering best in class payroll management, payroll administration, payroll processing and benefits service for 4000+ employees across the globe, by building capability and resilience of payroll and benefits team, payroll and benefits processes and systems.
  • Directing, managing and developing a team of payroll and benefits colleagues to deliver a robust and efficient internal to Mace and statutorily compliant payroll and benefits service.
  • Working closely with HR colleagues to ensure accurate and timely input of end to end employee lifecycle payroll and benefits activities including input of joiners, leavers, pension contributions, maternity/paternity pay, car allowances, bonus management, and ER related information, improvement projects and all variable pay changes.
  • Working closely with the Group HR director, finance, tax internal and external audit teams to produce monthly and adhoc payroll journals, reconciliations, pension payments and other collage benefit payments e.g. group income protection, ensuring timely and proper management of reporting and escalation of any areas of concern.
  • Ensuring the accurate processing of annual salary review and bonus cycles, delivering year on year imbedded continuous improvements in team capability, payroll processes and payroll tools.
  • Delivering year-end processing and preparation of P11Ds as well as annual Appendix 5 in the UK and relevant data submissions to the HMRC ensuring Mace compliance at all times.
  • Controlling tax year balancing procedures and ensuring all local statutory payroll and benefit reporting requirements are met in line with given local statutory guidelines and employment legislation in various international locations.
  • Running the UK pension auto-enrolment and auto re-enrolment process for c. 3000 employees.
  • Working with the HRBP and tax teams on global mobility case management and internal and external audits in both host and home countries.
  • Providing effective point of contact to manage and triage all payroll related queries, ensuring timely escalation and resolution of all payroll and benefits queries for Mace colleagues.
  • Developing and implementing enhanced payroll processes, practices and policies to ensure efficiency, accuracy and compliance across all countries that Mace operates in.
  • Providing stress test payroll processes, policies and procedures. Implement a range of Mace appropriate payroll blueprints and tools to ensure the way we manage our Mace payroll and benefits in the countries we operate are efficient, future fit and compliant.
  • Working with HR colleagues to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion in Mace payroll policies, processes and operating procedures.
  • Ensuring reward benchmarking across the business and; work with the Group HR director to prepare pay gap reporting ensuring it is published on time and in line with annual reporting requirements.
  • Maintaining a proactive continuous professional interest and understanding of statutory and payroll changes that may present challenges Mace, preparing suitable recommendations for mitigation and management.
  • Improving and implementing payroll reporting metrics and analysis and ensure the active management of payroll and benefits KPIs to proactively inform continuous improvements in payroll service delivery for Mace colleagues.
  • Ensuring all payroll systems, payroll documentation and internal ways of working is Mace compliant and meets advised standards as outlined by the Group HR director and the finance department.
