Job Description

Senior Lighting DesignerCentral LondonFantastic Benefits IncludedFantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Lighting Designer to join an established and innovative international design consultancy on a permanent basis.Our client is a highly reputable international design consultancy who consists of lighting designers, environmental design consultants and building services engineers based in the heart of London.Due to continued growth we are currently looking for Senior Lighting Designer to join their growing team.Their team is an award winning team, who have a portfolio that span a wide variety of sectors both in the UK and internationally. The sectors include hospitality, commercial, museums, ecclesiastical, cultural & theatres, residential, public realm and masterplanning.The RoleWe are seeking a creative, charismatic and ambitious Senior Lighting Designer.

  • The role will involve leading projects from initial concepts through to completion and commissioning.
  • You will need to be an excellent communicator with natural leadership qualities, able to inspire clients and junior team members.
  • You will demonstrate the ability to combine creative thinking with solid technical knowledge.
  • You will demonstrate an interest in how lighting design fits with our clients approach.
  • You will be responsible for leading and maintaining a range of projects and/or providing specialist knowledge to other projects/teams.
  • You will also support and nurture junior designers in a mentorship role.
As a member of the lighting team, you will report to an Associate Director and liaise with other in-house engineers, the environmental team and members of our CAD team.To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
  • An appropriate degree, this would ideally be in Lighting Design or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years solid experience within architectural lighting design
  • Solid working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, AutoCAD, Dialux Evo
  • Good graphic / layout skills
  • Good hand sketching skills would be advantageous
  • Solid knowledge of luminaire and controls specification
  • Solid knowledge in detail design
  • Experience in carrying out on-site commission and snagging
  • Experience in successful project co-ordination and delivery
  • Practical knowledge of team project management
  • Understanding of contractual procedures
  • Ability to prioritise and think strategically about timing and method of delivering project information
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Practical knowledge of managing small project teams
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills
