Job Description An international financial services provider is looking for a Senior legal counsel to enhance the existing fund range and to provide legal advice for the distribution of European funds in the UK The CompanyThe client boasts a fast-paced working environment and is looking for someone to expand their talents and relish a challenge. The RoleThe client is currently hiring a forward-thinking UK-qualified lawyer, with strong qualifications and professional experience, to join its Products Legal team in London. The European Products Legal team advises on the launch and management of its fund range in UK and Europe and the eligibility of assets acquired on behalf of their fund range. Furthermore, the Products Legal team provides advice on legal documentation of transactionsentered on behalf of their clients. As a member of an international team with colleagues around Europe, you will be working independently and employing a high level of legal expertise. The ResponsibilitiesYou will provide legal advice to the business on the following matters:
  • Building out, maintaining and enhancement its UK OEIC fund range (e.g., fund launches, mergers, re-positionings, liquidations).
  • Distribution of European funds in the UK.
  • Implementation of upcoming legislation and regulatory developments in the UK (such as SDR and climate related disclosures, Consumer Duty, Overseas Funds Regime, UK PRIIPs etc).
  • Implementing changes arising out of a post-Brexit re-organisation of our business in the UK (new policies/processes, changes to fund documents and new contractual set-up).
  • UK or international projects (e.g., coordination and alignment of UK and continental fund range).
  • Legal documentation of derivatives, structured products and securities (such as ISDA, CSA, GMRA, GMSLA) for funds and mandates managed by its investment platform.
The Requirements and Skills
  • Fully qualified lawyer (UK) with experience in a leading law firm or the legal department of an asset manager.
  • Ability to communicate complex issues clearly in both oral and written form to colleagues with no legal background and on different reporting levels, including senior management.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, dedicated disposition, ability to multi-task, high degree of flexibility and commitment and a collaborative approach.
  • Evidence of implementing pragmatic solutions in order to deliver commercially acceptable results for the business.
  • Proficiency in German or French is a plus, but not a prerequisite.
