Job Description

This is a wide-ranging, general corporate and commercial Senior Legal Counsel role for a lawyer with experience of advising in the oil & gas sectorClient DetailsOur Client is a Multinational Energy Co (and a globally recognised brand) with interests and projects located and ongoing around the world.DescriptionThis Senior Counsel position supports the organisations downstream businesses and operations working closely with the companys Legal Team management and members, and business leaders and personnel. Responsibilities for this position may include but arenot limited to:

  • Providing pro-active, timely and effective commercial, transaction and regulatory legal support on the organisations commercial activities relating to their products in Europe, as well as joint ventures, transactions, projects and business developmentopportunities in Europe and/or elsewhere.
  • Working closely with all stakeholders in Europe and globally to understand the strategies and priorities of the organisation and provide legal support on matters of varying sizes.
  • Be a trusted advisor to and member of project/transaction teams advising on legal issues, contract terms, corporate policies, and claims; draft and negotiate significant sales, supply and other types of commercial agreements; ensuring that commercial interestsare protected and advanced.
  • Work closely with the organisations subject matter experts in tax, human resources, finance, intellectual property, compliance, environmental, insurance, project management and other disciplines; ensure the integration of commercial agreements within acomprehensive risk management structure.
  • Advise and manage governance issues for country-specific entities.
  • Provide client training and instruction on various aspects of the law including contracting, compliance, and competition laws.
  • Advise and support on regulatory matters (including audits and investigations by, and communications with, government authorities); manage and support litigation and emergency responses.
ProfileThe successful candidate will be a lawyer, qualified in the UK (or equivalent Common Law Jurisdiction).They will be likely to have at least 6 years PQE gained either working at a Chambers Ranked Law Firm working on corporate, commercial and transactional matters in the Energy Sectors, or, working withing the Legal Team of a respected in-house organisationoperating in the Energy Sector.The following will be looked upon favourably:
  • Experience of working on matters in the Oil and gas industry
  • Experience in energy transition issues, managing significant transactions.
