Job Description

Join us as a Senior Java Developer

    • What youll doYoull play an important part in developing and maintaining the Fire system, working in partnership with quantitative analysts and developers, system architects, High Performance Computing, deliver, test and production support teams, as well as other development teams. Youll apply widely agreed software engineering principles and methodologies to design, develop, test and maintain applications and services to achieve the stated business and technology goals within required budgets and timelines. Itll also be your responsibility to:
  • Design and develop reusable libraries and APIs for use across the organisation
  • Design and develop software that is amenable for a greater automation of build, release testing and deployment process on all environments
  • Drive the reuse and sharing of platform components and technologies within the software engineering teams
  • Deliver software components to enable the delivery of platforms, applications and servicesWrite unit and integration tests, in automated test environments to ensure code quality
    • The skills youll needWere looking for a motivated and experienced senior Java Developer, practising a form of test-driven development with practical experience of multi-threaded, asynchronous and distributed systems. Well expect you to be able to keep up with developments in the industry and show a passion for learning and continuous improvement. Youll also need a background in software engineering, software design or database design and architecture, as well as experience of developing software in a SOA or micro-services paradigm. Youll also need:
  • Experience of compute grid platforms, such as TIBCO Datasynapse Grid Server, IBM Symphony or bespoke
  • In-memory data grid platforms experience such as Oracle Coherence, Apache Ignite or Hazelcast
  • Full-life cycle development experience using a major cloud provider involving container deployments with Kubernetes, Amazon Elastic Container Service, Apache Mesos or Docker Swarm
  • Experience of using industry recognised frameworks and development tooling
  • A background of implementing programming best practice, especially around scalability, availability and performance
  • Experience of using automated test frameworks, mocking and stubbing and unit testing tools
