DEPARTMENTAL OVERVIEW Senior Operator is responsible for the monitoring the operating system, LINC Systems and database issueswithin our mainframe environment. Procedures around open systems monitoring, file transfer protocols (FTP) and print services support. Primary responsibility is the daily and nightly batch processing. A 24x7 Operation Shift system in place(UK only) and 21*7(India only), inc Public Holidays. Holidays require cover to be arranged to ensure full shift support at all times which involves a "fair share" policy regarding overtime cover. Also providing application recovery, technical support and to develop and enforcedata centre standards. Is able to perform all duties within the IT Operator job description plus:Capable of running the overnight batch process (Mainframe, Unix, SQL and Windows)Monitor of overnight processing and dependenciesAbility to schedule adhocovernight process requirementsFirst and Second Line troubleshootingUnsupervised Project workResponsible for monitoring and escalation of issues for entire IT suiteResponsible for securing dataCan handle multiple concurrent issues, and is ableto prioritise and resolveProactive in addressing technical issues, or communicating them to Technical/Management Escalation as requiredCisco Phone administrationMonitoring Moogsoft / Heatmap and first line supportSystem backup checks and restarts,plus data restoresGeneral office duties i.e Engineer escorts, Hardware removal.Any other duties as required Technical KnowledgeHave a sound knowledge of all environments, and an in depth understanding of the architectureDetailed knowledge of FileTransfer ProtocolGood knowledge of Unisys Libra mainframe, MCP, and Workflow languageWill have high skill level in one or more specialist areasAble to produce clear and accurate documents for users and operational areasUnix basics (run commandsand scripts, detect errors)Broad infrastructure knowledgeServiceNow incident/request tool knowledge and OpCon scheduling package.Microsoft Windows knowledgeAbility to understand code in various shell scripting languages across multiple platforms.BNY Mellon is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
