Job Description

Global Accounting Network are working with a FTSE 250-listed utilities business who are a prominent leader in their field and generate revenues of over £800m.This is a prominent position in the London finance team and will see the successful candidate have responsibility for the creation and continued development of a new business partnering process to assist the Financial Services (FS) teams deliver its operational and strategic priorities and drive business performance.Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing, reviewing and monitoring our full FS management accounts on an ongoing basis and identifying and explaining any discrepancies with regard to our forecast models. Working with FS Director and Head of Operations for FS to ensure accrued revenues + expenses are accurate/appropriate;
  • Support the development and on-going measurement of performance against existing KPIs;
  • Development and provision of relevant and insightful reporting and analysis for business area, to drive improved business performance;
  • Preparing and reviewing all budget and forecast models for our FS business unit and ensuring these are maintained and refined on an ongoing basis, using product and operational metrics;
  • Ensuring we have suitable checks and financial controls to ensure we pay our key suppliers on time, and also ensuring that we invoice partners appropriately where we are owed a profit share or incentive-based pay-out;
  • Working closely with the FS Director on preparing business cases and evaluating strategic opportunities;
  • Working with our Financial Services data analyst to identify our profitable customer segments and collaborating with our FS Director and Head of Operations to refine our operating model and value proposition;
  • Working with the Head of Operations for FS to evaluate strategic operational initiatives;
  • Preparing variance analysis of budget/forecast vs actuals to ensure continual refinement of our forecasting approach;
  • Refining accuracy of our revenue and cost attribution and categorisation to improve granularity of our reporting;
  • Supporting commercial appraisals of prospective vendor/supplier tenders.
    • Profile:
  • You will be a confident finance business partner with exposure to working in a high growth, fast paced and high transaction business;
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with minimum +5 years PQE;
  • Experience of the insurance market is essential;
  • Proven business partnering experience supporting different business units;
  • Essential SAP and Excel exposure would be an advantage;
  • Proven financial modelling, analytical and presentations skills are essential;
  • Hands-on approach with a readiness to be flexible;
  • The drive to deliver continuous improvements - solutions orientated;
  • A pragmatic approach and the ability to see commercial, customer centric solutions;
  • Highly effective communication skills and the ability to explain complex ideas to a wide audience in a simple, understandable way.
