Role Purpose: Our technology platform is integral to everything we do and we are constantly looking for ways to use technology to improve our internal and external services and products. As a leader in the team you will be expectedto take a proactive and forward-thinking approach in utilizing cutting edge technology on our platforms. Our internally developed systems are implemented across all of the business covering a diverse range of products from industry leading e-learning platformsto highly integrated office logistics. Having all core systems running in AWS we are looking for someone who is keen to take advantage of cloud architectures while engaging with the team to leverage new opportunities as the company embarks on a new technologystrategy for the next decade. Working in a combination of Symfony 2, Silex and in house MVC frameworks you will be required to develop for a range of brand-new projects, as well as supporting the business through maintaining or advancing the existing system.Our team consists of highly experienced PHP developers, backed by developer operations specialists, business analysts, and project management. Responsibilities:Work within an Agile team to design, develop, and maintain our enterprise applications, e-learning portals, and web services with PHP on a mix of in-house and off the shelf frameworks and tools Apply sound software design patterns and industry standard conventionsDesign, build, and optimise database systems to support the above applications and services Translate business requirements into technical specifications Build client and management reports and tools Maintaining a high-quality code base, documenting code asyou develop Supporting our global user-base of clients and staff Evaluate feasibility and recommend technical solutions Contribute to the evolution of the developer tool-set and related technologies Provide mentoring and technical guidance for less experienceddevelopers Required: Strong development experience with structured and object-oriented PHP MVC frameworks such as Symfony and Zend Excellent analysis and design skills Systems integration technologies, including web services and APIs Relational databases designand implementation Raw SQL writing and optimization , especially with MySQL Strong attention to code quality and readability High awareness of performance, scalability, and security considerations Source code management with Git Good Hands-on experience onthe LAMP stack HTML, CSS 2/3, JavaScript, jQuery, and DOM manipulation Excellent understanding of object-oriented design patterns Excellent problem-solving skills Desirable: Enterprise level application development Experience with unit testing, regressiontesting, TDD/BDD Continuous Integration and Deployment concepts and tools AWS tools, cloud architecture, containerization technologies Agile development Good to have: JavaScript frameworks such as VueJS NoSQL databases such as CouchDB, MongoDB, Cassandra Mobiledevelopment Fitch Group is a global leader in financial information services with operations in more than 30 countries.
