Job Description

Senior Crude Oil Trader Up to £180,000 with bonus and benefits Hybrid working - 4 in office 1 at home Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensure the timely and accurate reporting of commercial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) adhering to established protocols.
  • Analyze market trends and risk concepts to formulate regional marketing strategies aligned with risk management policies.
  • Conduct negotiations and oversee North Sea crude oil sales to optimize upstream production, maximize market value, and secure cash flow.
  • Lead contract negotiations, reviews, and coordinate approvals in alignment with internal policies.
  • Coordinate logistics for efficient and timely delivery of crude shipments.
  • Explore trading opportunities involving the Dtd Brent Benchmark.
  • Support cross-regional marketing efforts for South America and the Middle East while seeking potential customers in European regions.
  • Assist in sourcing regional grades to supply refineries per head office arrangements.
  • Develop international trading businesses within North Sea and European regions.
  • Identify and implement methods to enhance transaction profitability and minimize costs while maximizing service efficiency.
  • Resolve disputes or claims and provide commercial insights to the Legal department.
  • Assess market trends and conduct market research to drive business development initiatives.
  • Formulate hedging strategies and provide support to derivative traders in hedging decisions.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely reporting of critical business information to relevant management for strategic, operational, and commercial decision-making.
  • Adhere to all Risk and Credit policies.
Person Specification
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Marketing, Logistics, Petrochemical, or related fields.
  • Demonstrate a keen understanding of the crude oil and petroleum products market, coupled with the ability to assess and manage risks associated with crude oil trading.
  • Exhibit strong relationship-building skills, with a focus on effective listening, collaboration, and excellent communication, negotiation, networking, and influencing abilities both internally and externally.
  • Possess knowledge of Dtd Brent benchmark trading and hands-on experience in derivative trading.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and prioritize and organize work efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Display numeracy and computer literacy.
  • Basic knowledge in Finance, Cargo Operation, and the Shipping market.
  • Familiarity with MS Office, Platts, ICIS, Thomson Reuters, etc.
Experience:
  • Accumulate at least 3 years of international crude oil trading experience, encompassing both physical and hedging/paper crude oil trading.
  • Engage in business development within the international crude oil market.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of risk management and the global petrochemical sector.
