Working on projects mostly within government sector, providing high quality content design for projects and clients, as well as taking a lead in developing Content Design as a discipline within the design team.Key Responsibilities:Create compelling user centered content for user needsLead on project with local and national impactSupport the Content Design Lead with establishing content design as a discipline within a newly forming team, including educating internal stakeholders on ways of working and the benefits of excellent content designSupport clients to connect their content to their users in a meaningful wayPrimarily focused on government (public sector) workCollaborating with service designers, visual designers and UX designers to design high quality user experiencesWorking with user researchers to understand user behaviour and support usability testsWriting, scoping, editing and publishing across a range of channelsAble to contribute to and use style guides and design patternsConfident interpreting information and presenting in a relevant and digestible form to stakeholders and users, with a high level of awareness of their needs and levels of comprehensionSupport the development of the UK Design Team blogProvide peer review support for content design teamEssential Skills:Content design - Advanced copywriting skills, extensive experience writing for the web and is able to create microcopyUser-centered design – An advocate for user-centered design and knowledge of design principles Accessibility - Confident writing to comply with WCAG accessibility standardsUser focus - Skilled at creating content to guide and engage users, that helps users complete tasks and transactions and also able to identify user needs, issues and storiesBrand – Experience of working with brand strategy and the ability to create content in the tone of voice of the organisations identity or brandStrategic thinking – Able to evaluate current strategies and provide guidance to others on working in a strategic contextConsultancy – Able to identify, evaluate and recommend content design options and describe the reasoning behind them, and confident operating independently on projects with minimal directionCommunication - Strong communication skills with an ability to support clients towards understanding new perspectives and ways of workingStakeholder management - Able to build and develop strong stakeholder relationships, and educate on the benefits of good content designAgile working - Experience of working within agile teams, understands concepts of agile methodology and has experience of applying it on projectsLeadership – Guide and advise other content designers to ensure high quality contentCollaboration - Able to work closely and iteratively with service, visual and UX designers across multiple projects at oncePrototypes - Confident working on prototypes, understanding technical parameters an restrictionsResearch - Confident using data, evidence and researchReasons why you should apply to usWe’re big – really big.
