Job Description

*** Salary £125K - £150K (dep on level of exp) + up to 50% Bonus, 30 days holidays, plus excellent corporate benefits. Hybrid working ***This Senior Bid Director role is to join a leading PFI Infrastructure Investor, Developer and Operator that is looking to growing their business development team. They have a healthy pipe-line of work relating to large, long-term projects and partnerships.This integral senior bid development role will lead a market leading successful bid team, managing complex PFI transactions from inception to financial close. This is a newly created role reflecting significant sustained growth within the business and widersector.Role ContextThe Senior Bid Director is responsible for the strategic leadership of new business transactions from inception to financial close. Transactions may include new build developments, transfers, forward-funded transactions, the re-financing of existing projectsor asset acquisitions and may be negotiated or competed. A project-specific transaction team will be in place to manage the deliverables of individual transactions and will be under the direction, and leadership, of this Senior Bid Director role.Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee all new transactions to a successful conclusion, evidenced by a Preferred Bidder appointment or an executed Exclusivity Agreement and then to Financial Close.
  • Support and challenge the strategy behind the successful delivery of individual new transactions.
  • Manage the Business Development team to ensure a degree of support and challenge in their day-to-day deliverables and to ensure a positive communication culture in the team that encourages personal development and reduces avoidable staff turnover.
  • Play a critical role in the identification, creation and nurturing of new relationships that could lead to future business opportunities.
  • Ensure new business opportunities are identified and evaluated appropriately, and that BD activities are coordinated across the business.
  • Own the growth of new and existing relationships, specifically in relation to the identification, development discussions and, ultimately, conversion of partnering arrangements into new project opportunities
  • Own the project specific strategy that ensures a successful financial close, including the win strategy when in competition.
  • Ensure a business-wide approach to ensuring success and report on win themes and evolving strategy to the Investment Committee and Executive Leadership Team at key milestones of the transaction programme.
  • Take accountability for the technical, commercial, and legal input for the production of high-quality competitive bids.
  • Oversee the bid/pre-preferred bidder activities and financial close process.
  • Direct and approve the assembly and appointment of the transaction team including procurement of a building contractor and professional consultants.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and lead dialogue and/or negotiations.
You will ideally have experience of one or more of the following:
  • Development and delivery of successful PFI, DBFO or similar transactions.
  • Bidding of PFI / PPP projects through the competitive dialogue process.
  • Negotiation and delivery of project finance and/or property development contract documents.
  • Worked within the built environment or real estate sectors.
Along with the ability to:
  • Lead, Motivate and Influence a winning team.
  • Manage complex projects under time challenging conditions.
  • Actively listen and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, from multiple disciplines.
  • You will have also be a motivated and ambitious team player who communicates openly with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
