Job Description

Job Title: SEC Reporting AccountantLocation: London (Hybrid)Role Objective:Provide accounting and reporting support to the Group External Financial Reporting team, in all SEC reporting matters, including preparation of the group consolidated results and reporting, support for accounting change and special matters; accounting processesand controls support; GAAP implementation, and transaction accounting and financial reporting assistance.   • Support the production of all external SEC financial reporting documents including the semi-annual reporting obligations and the annual 20-F, the production of the quarterly financial supplement, and other ad-hoc external reports such as prospectuses
  • Assists in the preparation and implementation of the group external financial reporting team plans to ensure these are in line with wider business strategy and reflect key priorities
  • Supports the production of the group consolidation process for all of the Aspen group of companies
  • Preparation of technical accounting papers where necessary
  • Supports the production of internal and external results presentations
  • Audit readiness and remediation
  • Ensure quality in delivering client service by following through on requests in a timely manner, manage expectations for deliverables and reports, and identify issues
  • Research and benchmark product data to industry data
  • Support the preparation of the quarterly materials to support the quarterly, semi-annual and annual reporting cycles and commentary as required for external publication purposes
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate documentation is produced to explain and support Group External Financial Reporting adjustments
  • Support on various ad-hoc projects and initiatives throughout finance
  • Continually develop expertise and technical knowledge through identifying and implementing appropriate learning and development activities
  • Apply technical knowledge of US GAAP to execute financial accounting and advisory services
  • Prepare accurate and timely statutory and regulatory reporting outputs, ensuring the overall quality and completeness of formal returns and supporting audit trail (including preparation of annual financial statements, tax returns, tax packs, entity reportingpacks, etc)
  • Conducts reviews of results and prepares other ad-hoc reports/analyses to ensure stakeholder, legislative and regulatory requirements are best met
  • Participate in special projects when required to provide appropriate finance advice and guidance
Requirements & Skills:
  • Relevant degree and relevant professional qualification
  • At least 5 years in accounting/auditing (preferably big 4 or a P&C insurance company)
  • Financial management reporting requirements compliant with SEC requirements
  • Technical understanding of insurance accounting and regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with Finance systems and cart of account design and consolidation processes
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, and Sharepoint skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Organised and strong prioritisation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Good at establishing and maintaining internal and external solid working relationships
  • Effective at influencing all stakeholders
  • Analytical with a commercial and continuous improvement mind-set
  • Working experience in relation to US GAAP
