Job Description

School Premises Assistant required in LondonDays: Monday to Friday, all year roundHours: 36 hours per week, hours are in a shift rota patternStart date: ASAPAre you a dedicated and experienced premises assistant looking for your next role We are recruiting for a confident and enthusiastic individual to work at one of our wonderful Ark Academies. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skillsand will be comfortable working with colleague and partners at all levels, exercising tact, diplomacy and confidentiality where appropriate. There is an opportunity for temp to perm in this role for the right candidate.Key responsibilities

  • To act as a key holder, responding to emergency callouts and take responsibility for the alarm system, making sure it is activated when the academy is closed.
  • To ensure the building is locked and secure at the end of the day and unlocked in preparation for the school day.
  • To patrol the building after it is secured. Ensuring all doors are locked and windows closed.
  • To regularly check on the condition of the building and report any repair work to the Premises Manager.
  • To undertake minor repairs when necessary e.g. replacing tap washers, minor carpentry repairs etc.
  • To take responsibility for all school furniture, fixtures and fittings including maintaining an inventory.
  • To keep outdoor areas cleaning and tidy and use rock salt on paths and playground when needed.
  • To assist with general maintenance on site.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested.
Person Specification
  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Experience of plumbing, carpentry or electrical work (desirable).
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • An enhanced child/child & adult DBS certificate on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
  • A minimum of two professional references (three if neither is child-based) to cover the last 24 months.
