School Finance Manager up to £45,000 pa SW LondonWe are hiring for a senior school in Wimbledon , SW London for a new School Finance Manager. The role is an integral part of the school’s operations. You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of financial integrity. You will manage the monthlyfinancial processes, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the DFE, the Local Authority, the Governors and the Headteacher. You will be leading financial planning and reporting to the School Business, HR and Estates Director to ensure effective strategicdecision making.Key Responsibilities: Responsibility for delivery of a high quality finance service to the school Ensure timely production and issue of financial reports, returns as required, including monitoring, reviewing and managing in-school projects that have a financial aspect. Oversight on completion of returns including monthly bank reconciliations, VAT returns and for large scale funded projects that fall outside the range of delegated funds. Prepare the annual budget and forecasts for approval by Governors Attend Governors meetings to report on the annual budget Writing grant applications for additional funding Take responsibility for and line management of the school’s finance support staff, including arranging appropriate training and development, conducting induction, probation and performance management reviews Ensure goods and services are processed in compliance with current and relevant procurement legislation and in a timely manner To ensure the Headteacher and all Budget Holders have accurate and up to date information that will support effective financial management, adherence to budget and strategic decision making on a monthly basis Monitor and manage financial matters that relate to the bought in services for the school including those relating to lettings and the PFI e.g catering and cleaning. Monitor monthly payroll files provided by the local authority Support with the administration of payroll changes liaising with HR and LA to ensure compliance and accuracy Oversight of the school fund including monthly bank reconciliations and auditing to ensure compliance. Manage the transition from cheque payments to BACS payments. Drive forward change and initiatives which promote internal efficiencies, value for money and ensuring best practice is implemented across all financial activities. Tasks assigned by the Headteacher that support the wider school operationally, its values and its mission. Key Requirements: Experience of running effective administrative and financial systems, ideally within a school environment Person Specification High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the wider MS Office suite and Google platforms [Essential] High level of proficiency with SIMS FMS (accounting system), invoicing systems, budgeting systems [desirable] Experience using financial databases and confidence and interest in learning new technologies [Essential] Line management experience, [desirable] Understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures and the ability to apply this understanding to real situations [Essential] Professional integrity and resilience, being resourceful and solution-oriented [Essential] Knowledge and understanding of the education sector, desirable Excellent communication skills in verbal and written form [Essential] Ability to adapt and change demonstrating flexibility in role [Essential]This role is offering a 6 month contract and will have the oppportunity to go permanent.
